I have uploaded a temporally bugfix. The playership icon should no longer go invisible. Looks like the custom icon is the issiue. I will try to make it work. For now, use this.
Temporary bugfix for 1.0 - missing playership icon #1
Fixes the bug present in Ultimate Freelancer 1.0 where the player ship icon on the nav map becomes invisible. The custom icon has been replaced by the default Freelancer icon.
Apply this fix the same way you would install the pack itself: replacing folders and files when asked.
If the problem consists, let me know. Details would be nice too (joined group, left group, relogged, etc.).

Is there anything you don't like?
Anything you'd like to be changed?
I love it, and could not play without it tbh. The only minor thing is in a couple of the Starsperes. Coronado for example, the background stars seem to large and out of place, same in Cambridge I believe? But that's just nit-picking on my part. Amazing work.
Thanks for the feedback!
@Langolier , starspheres can be changed for (almost) every system. It's it's really bothering you, I could change it or make a personal "pack" for you.
I've noticed a problem with certain sound. Mine explosion and missile launch are silent. Looks like some files are causing issues.
Also, expect a major audio update in the near future!

Your offer to make a special pack just for me is very generous and much appreciated, but I have already moved a couple of the backgrounds I like to replace the others, so no worries there.
Actually, imho, this pack should be integrated into the installation of Discovery itself. I think that, maybe, that could be a contributing factor in not drawing in many new players. They install Freelancer and then Discovery (which is an active, modern mod), then they start up a game and BAM, they're hit by 14 year old graphics. That turns off a lot of gamers unfortunately. The difference between vanilla and this pack you've compiled are like night and day!
I haven't noticed any sound issues personally, but in addition to @Hidamari's sounds, I also use @"Sombra Hookier"'s audio pack as well. They seem to work well together. Maybe could be part of that audio update?
Anyway yeah, great stuff here and very convenient to have it all in one download.

OP is updated with new goodies - Addons!
Look at the bottom of the original post for details.
@Langolier thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you like it.
I would also like to see Discovery having updated graphics, however that is entirely up to the devs.
As for the upcoming audio, I am making my own sounds. It's more than likely it will not work alongside @"Sombra Hookier" 's pack (as sound will be repaced with one another). Can you PM me a link to Sombra's audio? I'm curious how it sounds.
