My smuggler started of Lane Hacker tagged at the start of the mod but as the rules got more and more complicated I decided to switch to untagged as it's the only way to really do it without problems.
I fly my smuggler untagged, as it prevents any political entanglements. My smuggler sees himself as a man out to make an honest living, and tries to stay neutral with as many groups as possible so he can fly anywhere the money takes him. I still got some work to do on that, though... too bad there isn't a way to get neutral with everyone (except wild, nomads, and admins, of course) Of course, to that end, he also flies a whale in order to appear as nonthreatening as possible.
But I digress... staying untagged is really your best bet.

Don't let us Detectives catch you though. You will not like the outcome.
Quote from the LPI wiki article:
Quote:LPI, or Liberty Police, Inc. are donut addicted stereotypical policemen. Prone to inane bouts of random chatter on topics ranging from food to the state of toilet paper on board Kusari battleships. Not terribly deadly to foes, they nevertheless can eliminate them by sheer irritation from said chatter.
As my smuggler uses a ship, which was built in Rheinland space, I decided to give him the Kruger tag. Why?
Because the ID indicates the characters alignment and not the IFF. So if my ship is a Rheinland one, why not get it tagged like a company from there?
Try to use the tag as an element for your roleplay. LPI smugglers? Why not. It will be always those people who you think of at the very end of your investigations.
