My Bison pilot is a live-and-let-live Texan gal who understands that pirates are just there trying to make their own living. She enjoys small talk and isn't afraid to tip someone hitting her up for money if they're the gentlemanly or polite sort.
At the same time, she flies a Bison so that she can shoot a guy if they're rude without justification.
Agreed, but when ppl log in for 3 mins and "Hand some cash over scum, or die" and "Quick or i will spread your pieces, dog" isnt really fun, specially because they are not ashamed of just doing that and fly 20k up, F1 in space and go back to conn.
When i meet a pirate that is indeed pirating, notdoing a quick log for cash, and hes talkative, and not coming with same old bull****, is one thing, but when is just another idiot logging for 3 mins, heh, no thanks, if im mining i cd the ores in space and run for it, on preference after mocking him a lil.
Want improve gameplay? Get rid of the playerlist.
Then one dont know if someone is mining or not, if theres a pirate on that gate or not, if theres a frakking Hessian BS at the jumphole or a polizei lurking nearby.
The Snake's proposed change will have little to no effect: with the playerlist, soon some hostile enter the system ppl scramble and dock, if time permits logging a nearby ship to face the pirate.
If theres ONE BASE inside a minefield, grab some b@lls and siege it, if bother you so much. Kruger in o-7 for example: the pob is what 40k from the closest mining field? You must be very inapt to dont be able to cd and rekt a miner or a hauler in such distance.
On other hand, pobs inside mining fields should be moved away by admins right now, and rule changed so it isnt allowed, if someone make one, erase it.

I believe that mining zones could be made more dangerous to be in, if they had usual scanner inhibition that cuts visual and scanning range in half. This way miners inside the mining zone could only notice incoming pirates within 7.5k while pirates incoming towards mining zone, would still notice miners from 15k.
Feedback?
O3, IMG Cobalt field at Comet already has it.
It makes for some nasty surprises sometimes.
If you do it, do it for all fields.
I think it actually makes mining more interesting.

Well, as stated, pirating a miner is not really profitable anyways..
If you pirate a miner, you should do it for the RP, not for money, and if you really want to pirat miners for money, then they will most likely not comply.
Give a restriction to the area of where PoBs can be built if you really have a problem with them docking.
Last words are for fools who have not yet said enough.

Yes, I agree that piracy is mainly done for RP. For which my idea would increase likeliness of RP encounter happening. Be it pirate attacking unaware miner, or reinforcements coming against unaware pirate.
While at this subject, could the Battleship Scanner, the Spyglass Scanner and that new anime thing be immune to range reducing interference, such as in nebulae?
The size of scanner interference field changes a lot here. The efect would be very different between 3k sphere and 15k+ sphere. There could also be layers:
3k = 75% reduction
6k = 60% reduction
9k = 40% reduction
12k = 30% reduction

As an owner of such a POB, I would gladly accept this (provided I can choose new coordinates). Being close to ore is nice, but it means your POB can not go beyond Core2, which sucks in the longrun.
I'm against prohibiting building of POBs in mine fields. They just should be limited to Core1 only, cause if you loose Core1 it is really not a big deal. Increasing the time required to wait before siege after attack declaration to 24hours would be great in that case though.
