This is the Research & Development Sector of the Mercenary Council. It will take care about the development of new technologies, weapons, ships and modules that will be available only to the Mercenary groups into the Mercenary Council.
This appears to be an attempt to configure Nomad weapon technology to be compatible with ships from the colonies. Order and Core scientists have Developed experimental mountings that are capable of utilising the energy conversion units, and House Intelligence agencies have begun experimenting with this technology as well.

Whether it comes in the form of old written archives or digital recordings, guncam footage, weapon readings, recovered research data from terminal, black boxes or simple written-down experience or observations by pilots and scientists alike - Scientific Data is a much sought after "commodity" by any individual or group that specialize in technological advancement and scientific stufy. The possible findings in this sort of data may pave a way to new prototypes and technologies to be manufactured and implemented. Some of them - perhaps even mass-produced.
Upon closer study of remains and debris left by encounters with the Cult of Technology one can assume that the group is small in number of actual participants due to their clear preference of using unmanned drones for most of their field operations within the Sirius Sector. While the overall build of these autonomous vessels nothing outstanding, their weapon delivery system stands out as the most advanced part in the whole package, sporting either beam emitters or fire and forget warheads. However, keeping with the rather elusive nature of their creators, the drones seem to engage a self destruct sequence long before their actual expiry, thus making the study of this technology impossible.Still, many would find these remains as valuable if only for the faint hope of doing so.
First of all you must request a research assignment (Individually or as "Mercenary Council Group") to the leader or wait for an assignment from the leader (via S.K.Y.P.3. protocol or direct communication channel). Once you obtained it, proceed in this way, depending on what kind of technology you're researching:
Ships designed by the Auxilia Coalition derived from the knowledge of other ships' technologies since not all the members are scientists or engineers. Depending on what equipment or weapon has been researched, every single ship research must be completed following a precise list of tasks. So there isn't a precise way to do ship research but there's no need to be afraid; when it's the moment, the leader will publish the instructions.
The equipment obtained must be tested on various ways. The first thing to do, for safety, is obtaining enough examples of the equipment to test in order to get ready to use another of them in case of destruction of the example. Depending on what kind of equipment must be tested, there are different ways to achieve the research. For example in case of cloaking devices, this one must be activated enough times to test the cloak activation time and then maintained it until the exhaustion of the batteries, to test the cloaking time. Every equipment to test has a limit to reach depending on the type and power of the equipment (For example, a cloaking device Mk I must be activated 20 times and maintained it until exhaustion). The objectives to reach will be communicated during the commencing research announcement.
In case of Researching and building of a faction equipment, material requirements to deliver to build and test the component/s will be announced during the commencing research announcement.
Weapons obtained must be tested in various ways. The first thing to do, for safety, is obtaining enough examples of the weapon to test in order to get ready to use another of them in case of destruction of the example. Every weapon must be tested reaching a "kill count" against every kind of target: Enemies, aliens, buoys, asteroids. (For example, a specific weapon must hit 1000 targets). All this according to the following values:
Hit asteroids = 1 point
Hit neutral buoys or big asteroids = 10 points per energy exhaustion (Fire with only the weapont to test until the energy exhaust. In case of "infinite power", every 2 minutes)
Destroy aliens and common targets (//NPCs) = 500 points
Destroy specific targets (//Players) = 1000 points
The objectives to reach will be communicated during the commencing research announcement.
In case of Researching and building of a faction weapon, material requirements to deliver to build and test the component/s will be announced during the commencing research announcement.
Some of collected items could not be able to be tested in space so the Research & Development Sector will occupy about them in their labs. The only thing to do, to contribute for the researchs of these unknown items is just collecting high amounts of them.
Every proof of research progresses can be communicated in this thread.
I used this weapon enough to give a report about this weapon.
This is a good prototype of a gun that manage to preserve and use Nomad energy and since it was built for these purposes, our human technology has an extreme difficulty to make it working. This is also a reason of the huge deficit that the power core's ship has to use this weapon, making it efficient only of 10%. According to me we could do 2 things: To find the guy who managed to create these weapons (Highly riskious) or to continue the researchs with our efforts and with the help of the groups within the Mercenary Council. Meanwhile I think to have understood some weapon mechanics useful to start a first Auxilia blaster gun project.
This should be a contract report (Even if no contracts has been made) but this will be an exception:
This evening, Liberty space, California precisely, was invaded by a strange group marked as "Hostile" in my computer ship but there's who call them "Cultists" since their "Invasion Carrier" had that adjective.
They had knowed ships but their equipment were very strange. First of all their guns are unusual. I've never seen any kind of weapon like that. If I would have had the chance to take one of them we could start some depth research. Their ships use red engines and red lights, so I think that also their internal and external equipment were unusual, as this aggression against every human at will was strange. Why should they fight against literally everyone?
At last their cargo. They carried other strange commodities never seen in Sirius: Scientific datas and Drone remains (...excluding the fact they're also rich and they use also Sirius money. This makes me understand that they couldn't be of outer Sirius space and maybe their house could be somewhere within it.). This stuff could be good to find our answers about who are they and why they attack people. Another mercenary, "Mentor", managed to collect some kind of datas and when possible, it will transfer all useful datas on our stocks. He should be careful since many people may do anything for this rare and precious stuff.
