I've experienced a lot of lag recently. I've tried to log in twice, only to find the server down.
After waiting for a while and finding the server, I logged in, only to get disconnected two minutes later.
edit: THere were only 40-50 people online at both times
Quote:i used to have negligible to no lag earlier... but its become a looot more now..
My apologies... the lag was due to my own net connection,
I have corrected it now...
And now i get no lag at all... just the 'once in a blue moon' yellow lag...
Location: uk
connection: mobile broadband
ping: varies between 150 - 999
lag: usually pretty good, with the occasional patch of flashing red, more likely with increased server load.
can always tell when its going down for a while, cos it crashes a few times, and when it is back up, the lag is bad.
have noticed that when i was rep-fixing (dropping missions in ny - possibly the most populated system) the system crashed a lot, but then again i did have to lose, lib-navy, lpi, and lsf tags.
Suggestions:
connecticut system to have a repfixing base for lsf/ln/lpi. Would this drop the load on the ny system?
(expensive suggestion - may not be possible)
divide the disco map up across 2/3/4 networked servers that are attached to the same ip, so when u travel acrros the map, your actually crossing a server
server 1 liberty space
server 2 the rest of the vanilla map
server 3 the modded systems

possible or just pie-in-the-sky?
I think thats just "pie-in-the-sky". But it would be cool if it was possible.
Since I have been playing on the server(past week probably) the only time I have experienced lag is when people are dying then respawning and also right after the server crashes when people are reconnecting. Other then that I see almost no problem with lag except when its my connection going down the drain(using wireless with router alllllllllll the way downstairs). A thought that comes to my mind is when there are new players(new to the server) connecting have them spawn in a random location around the newyork system. For example 1st new player spawns in colorado, next in texas, 3rd in newyork and so on and so forth. Of course new players will automatically want to goto new york. Another possibility is to limit how many players are in a specific system at a time. For instance only 15 people in new york at a time. I dont really think either are possible but it is just a thought.

There's no point in reporting anything else for the next few hours. The lag appears to be on the connection where the server is physically at from what I can tell, and there is nothing that we can do if the server's ISP is having problems.

Disable all npcs except for missions and such it will reduce server lag and help some. Could be a variety of different things like too many npcs and ppl cheaters and other factors but i am sure they will have it fixed soon.
