If he would have done the thing the right way, there wouldn't have been any issue with that. You however don't just take things, especially if you don't have any right to do so. For such things, we have official player factions.
Looking at his reactions from this thread, you can figure how well something like this goes without an approved entity guiding that person.

While i'm thinking about it, every zoner faction started in this manner, they claimed a Freeport and built the faction going forward. OSI didn't appear overnight with a Core 5 PoB, IRG at one point in time was nothing more than an indy zoner player who claimed control of Corfu. TAZ was built before me but I'm going to hazzard a guess they were formed in the same manner.
He powergamed control of Freeport 1 WHILE COF WAS STILL A THING. We told him back then that this is a no-go, he ignored it and continued it and now expects us to acknowledge it. Yes, RP was done, but it was done the wrong way. Do you really want someone who breaks the rules, the lore, doesn't communicate with the officials and their established structure?
The Zoner factions started to take control when nobody else took control of the stations. Nobody was managing them. However, in this case, it is different. IRG/OSI/TAZ exist. They have to decide whether he can or not. For god's sake, Nemo, don't jump into an argument without knowing the context.
Stop doing the huggie. Vagrants were by far also pretty much against established Nomad lore in times they were "ONLY" Indies.
As Nemo said, step forward inRP and don't do this move. It only creates anger and looks like a kindergarten.

There are 5 people in charge of "Zoner Offical Power" (Whatever that means) spread across 3 factions. Not IRG as a whole, not OSI as a whole, not TAZ as a whole, those 5 people, those 5 individuals are turning away groups, factions, and indys because they don't want to be bothered. This is just one in a long line of groups turned away. Those 5 people, of which you are one of them, have far to large of a say in what it means to be a Zoner on this server; and I don't believe that is good for either the future of Zoners or the community at large to have such a small number of people turning away so many others.
That's not even remotely accurate. OSI has a board of directors where pretty much everyone has the same level, with the exception of Paul who is forced to represent the faction as 1iC and me as 2iC in case of Pulha being absent for months - which hasn't been the case. I can't speak for IRG and TAZ - the latter is inactive enough that even Pulha doesn't know who leads TAZ at this point.
We, matter of factly, are not turning away groups. I can only guess what you are refering to, so I'd rather have you type out what you mean here. We can be bothered, and you know that very well. We haven't received any application for station administration since Brett and Aazalot made that one thread 1.5 years ago.
