Could I just get some feedback on what the general thoughts are for a Sirius Racing League?
It would have a proper leader table and a proper prize pool. I don't nessassrily want players making new characters for these, but instead entering it as they normally would.
I'm thinking that Official Factions (and non-Official) could sponsor certain drivers, allowing a more realistic entry fee, and maybe forming a team of some sort. Interspace Racing Team - or whatnot. It would be a season, not just a single race, making more dramatic racing ( similar to real world motorsport )
Other possibilities could include pirate raids on the race, making even more drama, and making security a thing, all adding to the drama.
Before I go into much more detail, is there enough interest for this to happen?
My freelancer has been gathering dust in Tottori lately, and I've got another character or two who'd be into that sort of thing.
Not all of them would do it on the "motorsport" level; some would go for illegal lane racing, probably giving the police more things to do.
In short, I'm all for it, but you already knew that.
Can't remember who made this space bike but something like this being added might make the racing avenue more interesting. Kudos to the designer. Imagine using this as an LF for racing. Or as a cop. We could have space biker gangs vs biker police. AFC really could have used them back in the day.
Also I once had the idea to have a race around Sirius like the movie Hidalgo where they go on a race route called the 'ring of fire' that was a long race where you're on your own once you're out between stops. It would be a big race going all around Sirius that would be anything goes, so you make your own route, since there would be a few choices, and face dangers from other racers or pirates. Start in the Omicrons, go to Gallia, then back to the Omegas (rule out Zurich). Make a big prize, allow LF's, shuttles and freighters. I think that would make for a good routine event, and good for live streaming.
So yeah, short range races with those bikes would be amazing, and long range races with ships like freighters couldn't hurt!
I haven't had plans to be very active but if there were enough folks interested I'd log for stuff like that and/or help out with planning.
This was one of the best racing events we ever had, in my opinion. Not just because I won, but because it was something different than the "A'm Hovis" ring races. The idea the AFC had here was to have a Bustard with JD4 that does a blind jump. Start was in Baffin at the Skyhook over the Geode. That was also the goal: To return as fast as possible to that point after the blind jump.
If we ever get someone to organize stuff like that, I might even log into the game again.
Race around a planet, in the atmosphere. Have a docking ring or something on one end and a goalpost ship on the other to mark the axis you're meant to fly on. Switch between polar and equatorial routes, as well as the planets it takes place on, so that nobody can get used to that specific curvature without a lot of practice. If it's on a populated planet, it'll be illegal due to endangerment of ships near the docking ports, not to mention traumatic for the kiddies watching fireworks in the sky. For added fun, let people use weapons. Race for pink slips, assuming you survive.
