5k transports Nanobots -> Hull

Can we like stop putting Nanobots into Hull? That's the only thing I loved in Disco compared to Crossfire because CF was doing that already and it made me question all the time why can the same system applied to Snubs (Nano + Shield) not be applied to Caps, but I had disco. Now you're turning all those ships into something like they have some sort of an implementation problem (which was the problem in Crossfire) into the Game. Bring back Caps Nanobots.

you're either obsessed with pressing G/your hotkey of choice 4-5 times before you die, and calling it 'gameplay' and a 'mechanic', or you're obsessed with instantly destroying transports

it's fascinating

at least with shield batteries, you can use them to, say, absorb a nova on a transport, or a heavy mortar when flying around a capital

with a nanobot you just slow down your death, which is exactly identical to having them in your health bar, except in the cases where you just instantly die. Instead of an enemy with one health bar, you have an enemy with multiple health bars with a x5, x4, x3, etc on top of it.

if i didnt know any better, i'd feel like i was being told that it's hard to dish out damage

I prefer Transports that die to 1torp/snac If they dont use any Armor Upgrade personally because Killing a Transport is the Most boring thing in the game and people should not be forced to waste more than a Minute on them

I'm seeing a lot in favor of instantly killing the transport instead of them 'wasting' your time.

Is there not going to be any arguments in favor of all players deserving a chance to fight back, be it through escaping, or surviving until law enforcement survives? Or is it because they're flying transports, they do not deserve to play the same game as you?

How about someone who actually flies transports more often than a weekly trip to fund ammo for their fighters/bombers?

I'm torn on this. On one hand, I agree that having the nanobots just delays a more or less insurmountable fight for the transport. They might hope they can make it to a trade lane, or a friendly base or something, but no amount of nanobots is going to leave them coming out on top. On the other hand, insta kills in general are bad for the community. And when you're talking about transports, more than likely you're talking about newer players who can't afford to invest in top dog armors, and are just trading to try to afford a more fun ship to play. So if you make trading a real hassle, you're just turning new players around at the door.

I think a reasonable middle ground would be to make all the transports have enough hull to survive an instakill weapon, but reduce their nanobot capacity as a result. It makes sense that all transport makers would outfit their flagship traders with enough armor to withstand a direct hit from a commercially available weapon system. It's not like these are rare weapons that are only available to militaries, these are weapons you can buy at a space Walmart.

Not being able to be instakilled isn't some sort of major improvement in the defensive capabilities of a transport, it's still gonna die, just that it's going to take an extra hit or two maybe. I think that's the flaw in the "well you should just get armor upgrades if you don't want to be instakilled". Even if I waste cargo capacity on armor upgrades... I'm still gonna die. If my hull goes up by 3x that doesn't mean that all of the sudden this becomes a fighter where a giant transport with poor turret coverage, low damage output, and a complete lack of agility is going to be able to defend itself... it's still doomed, it just will survive a little longer, but what does that matter? Patrols won't be coming to save you more than likely because they rarely patrol the trade lanes, and even if an NPC patrol showed up they'd be no match for a player ship. The aggressor will more than likely shut down the ability to run with CDs, so lasting a few seconds longer doesn't mean I have the potential to cruise away. So why bother? At least without armor I make slightly more credits per run, and I'm gonna die either way. Those extra credits per run mean I can fly the ship I really want sooner.

And let's be real, that's the reason people fly transports. To afford to fly other ships. If you've been playing for years and have billions of credits stashed across multiple accounts and characters that likely doesn't matter. But if you're new, and you just want to make enough to buy a destroyer or something else... it's a huge deal.

I am honestly interested in your reply, it seems like you are wanting high health for transport via nano's to keep your precious 5k cargo hold at maximum. You want more health to not be insta killed, then sacrifice some of your precious cargo hold and get a amour upgrade. To be honest you basically lose nothing with the amour upgrades on apart from a like 6 mil max with CAU8 and turrets (if your transport has them).

I fly transports all the time in the factions I am in, and all of them have at least a CAU5 on them. I don't wanna lose all the booty, so I add an amour to stop me getting insta killed. The only transport I have nothing on in my PoB supplier, if I get insta killed on it oh well my fault should of had a amour upgrade on.

I do fly transports pretty often and I can say. if I care to put at least AU, I die without having single nanobot/shieldbat left and usually I have enough time to reach my destination, I just don't want to leave pirating party without a blue.

I also play pirates and the chance to be instakilled is the only thing that prevents transport players, who don't care enough to get AU at least, from docking to lawful stations without giving you any RP or fun. I don't see many players playing pirate factions and I see no reason to decrease it even more.

Don't want to sacrifice a bit of cargo for armor? - Be afraid and vigilant even near with lawful stations, that's the part of the game aswell.
Want to feel absolutely safe in lawfuls area? - Get yourself AU.
Want to show pirate, that he did a mistake by coming for you? - Put CAU6 and turn your ship into battletransport.

If you are playing a pirate and the only thing that makes you scary is unarmoured transports being instakilled before they can dock, maybe stop pirating near bases?

Nanobots in general are stupid gimmick that makes absolutely zero sense and so far capital ship nano-hull merge looks great thing as you can actually see progress of damaging enemies rather than them magically repairing X number of times.

The mechanic is not broken, so why try to fix it? Try to fix something that's actually broken then.
