They only want to merge all together to force people stuck each other in /conn similar style but with RP next to Freeport 11/Manhattan/Malta/other base
Disparagement out of the way, brief history lesson.
Entitled pirate players cried about alternate routes existing for Ores and how people could use the playerlist to avoid the people hunting them using the playerlist. Buffer systems existing to pad space had long since been dealt with (except O-Tau, REEEEEE) and Guard systems became deguarded or were merged.
Honestly, systems like Corse and Mackenzie existing purely as "one base, one Jump Hole" systems didn't really contribute much. Ellesmere and Dusseldorf offered interesting alternate routes. The old Omega-55 was a fun rollercoaster.
New Hampshire, Dundee, and O-Eta were entertaining in their own right, but "battleground" systems were smothered by a pvp encounter-encouraging devteam a few years ago.
tl;dr this is DISCOVERY, not ECHAT & CHOKEPOINT. Different varieties of content in the boondocks to discover is a good thing, as are alternate paths for people to take.
People here are replying without actually thinking.
How many of the listed systems do people even visit on the regular? How much are they raided, or traded through? There's definitely still a good amount of baggage in the mod that serves no purpose - it doesn't provide meaningful contributions to the lore, activity, or are even pretty to look at. Y'all say some of the listed systems give exploration, but what is there in them to actually explore that leaves a meaningful impact on the players lol.
Quote:Omicron Psi & Iota
Absolutely. Both are rarely visited already or even explored. There are purists who argue that neither system should even have visited at all, which makes me ask why they even exist as mod systems in that case. Merging both would certainly improve connections.
Quote:Omicron Xi & Chi
Absolutely. Chi is garbage that even with content injection players still don't care about. All it's doing right now is obstructing what could be a great Delta-Xi connection.
Quote:Omega 55 & 58
I kind of think that 58 being moved out of the way and 55 connecting to Theta is the answer here. With some system retcons Munich had, there's actually no explanation for the Munich disaster and in my headcanon if Munich was connected to 58, 58 would be responsible. Otherwise maybe. 58 right now is awful and it seems like only Durandal thought it was a good system.
Quote:Omega 41 & 47
The latter has some lore significance but neither of them is frequently visited. The answer may be better connections instead of merging.

Quote:Omicron Alpha & Phi or Omicron Tau or Omicron Beta
No, but I would suggest a Phi/Psi merge if Psi and Iota are not merged. Omicron Tau should just be deleted tbh.
Quote:Omicron Gamma & Kappa (in this case some at least one of the Zoner-bases should go to Delta or Theta)
No. Too many things in Delta and Theta already also. Kappa just needs to be reverted to the old design and the surplus relic Zoner guard bases removed tbh.
Quote:Omicron Sigma & 59
Nah Sigma-59 is fine. But delete Omicron Sigma, it's garbage that literally no one ever visits or acknowledges. I'd rather we bring back Omicron Zeta in its place, which was 100x cooler.
Quote:Kepler & Gallileo
Honestly maybe. I think having two different border systems is silly, and it'd be better if activity went through a single system to the next House.
Quote:Vespucci & Kansas
Just delete Vespucci. No need to touch Kansas.
Quote:Omicron Major
It's got some special content but you raise a good point. It's not really visited and the system just sits there.
Quote:Alberta
It used to be really active before Plat changes. It's the fault of the economy that it's inactive.

Hell no. It's a great system and one of the last few bits of exploration the game has.
I think the problem only comes with a huge empty house in question of player attraction. I don't have any problem with listed systems, imo edge systems should more or less empty to feel the void of space. And I still miss Omicron Zeta though.
Agree with @RedEclipse, Zeta was a good place to concentrate activity and provide nomads-order-core-zoners-any other visitors of omicrons with a better place for interactions and combats than the modern Delta

There are several systems that should, in fact, be deleted. Useless buffers like OMICRON TAU that serve no purpose other than prolonging flights is one system that I can think of.
