I have an effortpost ready to go about it that I will be dropping the day before we patch. It is long and thorough but it will explain everything.
Sneak peek: While testing the new PvE system, I grabbed some of the balance team to stop testing VHFs for a few minutes to run some high end VHF missions and the next thing any of us knew they had been at it for an hour and were enjoying the hell out of it.

High end VHF missions are awesome but are High Cap Missions coming back?

These are just a starting point, and further changes will be incremented through hotpatches and future releases. You'll see what exactly has changed very, very soon.
While this is all good news I would like to point out that PvE does not have to be limited to missions.
I believe, given the number of solar systems in Discovery there is space (pun definitely intended) for all kinds of PvE / coop content in the Edge World systems... or even some rarely visited stations / shipyards that are not near the main routes could be turned into PvE zones where you could have spontaneous PvE happening with a chance of players dropping in either to help or sabotage whatever the goal of the zone is (loot farming, mining, maybe even PvE smuggling - does anyone remember when NPCs used to scan for contraband ?)

Please God bring back my nomad missions in Alaska. All of the bases I've checked either have no missions or low level Xeno or Rogue missions that make me want to delete Freelancer.exe.
Also, can you guys just drop the patch in the next couple of days pl0x

Suggesting that the devs 'just drop the patch' without any insight into the current state of the development files is a dangerous game just a few days ago this would've resulted in frequent server crashes, and also potentially economy imbalance.
