Don't do it man, don't give up your dreams because of some random a$sh$le comment!
There are still some of us who'd like to try new some new stuff... I'd even guess we're actually the (silent) majority, forced to live under the oppressive heels of the current regime. ( jokes aside, it is a fact that this is the only decently populated multiplayer Freelancer server, although I suspect there are actually hundreds of people who replay the single player campaign every few years. Most would be willing to pay for something resembling Freelancer 2, some even hundreds or thousands of dollars .. cue Star Citizen )
I was actually considering joining your group, since the last time I tried Discovery there was no Gallia yet and I'd love to see and "discover" it through the leadership of an experienced veteran. The Glassing of Leeds came to me as quite a shock, I wasn't really expecting Alderaan level catastrophe in Freelancer universe, so kudos to the (former?) story devs for at least shoe-horning a story that checked all the famous sci-fi / sci-fantasy tropes without actually resorting to the cliché of a supervillain with a superweapon!
The new mod direction actually really interests me, with the possibility of players affecting the main storyline more. Although I haven't yet seen any major community involvement yet, except for few traders and haulers trying out the currently running events (and then quickly giving up after the cash nerf).
As for the IDs, from my time stalking these boards I got the impression that you can sometimes run a placeholder until you get enough story / support for a SRP request for your desired special ID? Maybe I misunderstood something and it's actually much more heavily regulated...

Karst's criticism was neither rude nor baseless; The last thing this community needs is more people who think constructive criticism is insulting and that good criticism is only praise. If TR gives up because they received some constructive criticism, we don't need them on the server.
A way a lone a last a loved a long the riverrun, past Eve and Adam's, from swerve of shore to bend of bay,
brings us by a commodius vicus of recirculation back to Howth Castle and Environs.
My motto is always, live and let live. I agree constructive criticism is welcome, but there is no need for passive-aggresive posts and condescending behavior.
If people like what TR are doing they will vote with their activity and interaction. If not the group will die a silent death, and there will be nothing but a few posts of forum clutter for the moderators to clean up.
Sorry if I came out as somebody who doesn't want to play nice. It wasn't my intention and I agree Karst makes some good points. However they might have been more suitable for the feedback thread instead of Official Faction Info, because the post in this context came out a touch too strong.

I wasn't being passive aggressive. I genuinely believe there is no place for any faction on this server that is not willing to take criticism. An unofficial faction is not required to make a feedback thread, but when they make one, they invite feedback of any kind.
On a further note, official factions are required to have feedback threads, and so it is implicit that any faction that wishes to be a permanent fixture of the server must be willing to take on and consider critique.

I took the criticism, but this idea had only just begun and I can already tell its not going to go the way I'd hoped. The problems on my end are with everything else, the idea was fragile and it only reminded me that there is no real option for what I'm trying to do. so you can act all high and mighty but sometimes 'criticism' is just impulsive griping. The main problem is on my end, I expect a bit too much out of this place and the the people, but only because its possible. I'm tired of the prevailing attitudes though. This only happened because there's nothing much to do online after you're done mining or trading. I'd rather be out attacking an Enclave base or destroying weapons platforms, etc. I hear more pve may be coming but its probably too little too late for me. Actual pvp piracy wasn't even a priority to me.
For LuckyOne, thanks for the interest but I was dreaming when it came to making a pirate faction, where most are just afraid right off the bat it will mean they'll be constantly hunted. The truth is we lack a certain bravety here that keeps the potential here dragged down. Frankly there are immature parties here that should be told to suck it up, and its not me. This is me sucking it up, and I'm not going to dare risk offending anyone by using the Junker ID for a group of generic independents that both pirate and smuggle. I get to pointlessly re-argue my choice, or ignore you despite the criticism, and I'm not continuing on with people ignoring me yet again because I'm not doing it their way.
