Sender ID: Comandante Fiorella Arianna de Marco, Guardia Svizzera Recipient ID: Hispania Imperial Subject: Can Stortas still fit a hangar bay? Location: MNS Amalfi Encryption: Medium
Saluti, Hispania Imperial representatives,
I'm comandante Fiorella Arianna de Marco from the Guardia Svizzera, and since you hold most of the resources right now - I have a question for you. It came to my attention, that certain version of Storta-class destroyer could carry fully functional hangar bays, yet current versions are not equipped for such facilities at all.
I would like to fit hangar bay or two on my destroyer MNS Amalfi. Since its current configuration does not allow an easy installation of such facilities, a major modification of the hull will be needed. Do you have a means how to modify my vessel in such way or, if our shipyards are occupied by much more important tasks, do you know someone who could do that?
If so, what is your price? Reason for such facilities is quite simple - since i operate mostly out of our space, ability to carry few snubcraft onboard could help us a great deal with our duties. One of the solutions could be a larger vessel, but I prefer as small capital vessel for that as possible - Storta's compact size makes any kind of navigating through dense asteroid or debris fields easier.
Cordiali saluti,
Comandante Fiorella Arianna de Marco,
Guardia Svizzera.

Señorita de Marco,
I'm Alexandra Amelia, and I'll be the one handling this matter for the time being.
Valletta Shipyard can house your vessel to conduct such modifications, so there's no need for any third-party to get involved as long as the necessary infrastructure is in question.
Our engineers and technicians can help you out, but we'll require the materials and overall design plans for the project however.
Assuming you already have a rough idea on how you want your vessel's hull to be modified, please meet me on Valletta when you can, or just send over the necessary technical details via this channel, whichever suits you.
We can discuss what we'll require from you in exchange after we have every paperwork prepared for the project to begin.
I'm also curious who the "Guardia Svizzera" are, because we never heard of them before. We like to keep good relations with most of the different Maltese groups, but we need to know who they are first.

Saluti Signora Amelia,
since I've suffered a minor setback in the Liberty space and my vessel is in dire need of repairs anyway, I'm going to meet you in person aboard Valletta shipyard as soon as the Amalfi will get there.
As for your question about Guardia Svizzera - we are small unit of maltese guards. We protect Malta and its interests with military-like mindset - we find our pride in discipline and respect. There is nothing more to be said about us.
Grazie for your timely reply - I'll meet you soon, Signora Amelia.
Cordiali saluti,
Comandante Fiorella Arianna de Marco,
Guardia Svizzera.

Salve Signora Amelia,
It's been quite while since we last met aboard the Valletta Shipyard. I have acquired all the necessary hardware and software for the first stage of my vessel's modifications.
Last week wasn't so lucky for Maltese and my vessel suffered severe damage in Sigmas in battle against Corsairs and is in need of drydocking, restoration and refit with newer weapon systems and armor. As the vessel will be opened and worked on already, I believe it's the great opportunity to do those modification I've been asking for.
I'm asking for your final approval of these tasks in this simplified list, so the shipyard's engineers can begin:
Replacement of the damaged grade-6 armor plating for the newer grade-8.
Installation of the two experimental 'Repeaters' in place of two Cerberuses.
Replacement of the shot-off engine and restoration of the current engines.
Restoration and re-alignment of the damaged and worn vessel's structure.
Re-arrangement of the crew amenities and associated bulkheads to my chief engineer's specifications.
Removal of the previous computer systems and installation of the new hardware and software.
Additional modifications of the power-grid and cooling systems to handle all these new modifications.
First four points are something for which I have clearance already as they are simple refits and repairs, but I list them just to make work list for my vessel complete.
I'll be awaiting your reply, Signora Amelia.
Cordiali saluti,
Comandante Fiorella Arianna de Marco,
Guardia Svizzera.

Señorita de Marco,
Your requests have been approved, and our engineers are ready to provide additional advice, or assistance, provided you need them.
Keep us updated on the progress, these modifications might give us some valuable insight for future ship designs, you never know.
I've been rather scarce lately, as you've noticed, let's just say that there are some 'personal' matters that keep me occupied, nevertheless, if you need something else, you know how to contact me.

Salve Signora Amelia,
Grazie for your reply and permission. We will begin these works as soon as we return from Kepler back to Maltese space.
This is a great opportunity to explore way how to widen Storta's mission capabilities, although I cannot say that all of this will be without drawbacks. Improved vessel automation promises tonnage, running and manpower savings, but I suspect that solving all problems caused by complicated automation systems and software is a long journey indeed.
Nevertheless, I will remain in touch and keep your engineers informed when we manage to achieve some interesting breakthroughs, Signora Amelia.
Cordiali saluti,
Comandante Fiorella Arianna de Marco,
Guardia Svizzera.

Señorita de Marco,
I hope I can still reach you via this channel, because I'd prefer if what I'm about to say stays between us, and only us.
We've received your transmission, and since Don Rodrigo Diaz has been 'absent' for an extended period of time, I am the one who represents Hispania Imperial since then, but I figure you already know this.
The idea of expanding the cardamine network to the Xenos isn't new to us. Dona Enma Loyola has previously approached us with this matter, however we haven't heard much of her since.
I'm giving you read-only access to the last 5 transmissions regarding this matter for reference.
From what I know, whatever deal they might have tried to come up with, ultimately didn't work out, however you seem to have made some success, quite unexpected, nevertheless I am impressed.
Despite this, Hispania Imperial maintains a more conservative policy in this matter. Once this trade deal of yours proves to be profitable, and safe, we'll consider the options you're proposing.
We'll observe the unfolding of your agreement with the Xenos Alliance, for the time being we are going to continue our operations as usual.
I can't give you my word, but if the situation allows us, my people will honor the non-aggression section, they will simply avoid hostilities with Xenos Alliance vessels.
Keep me updated, and we are ready to offer you support within reasonable extent, as we have done so previously.

Signora Amelia,
It appears that my ideas are not as radical and original as I thought. It is mostly unfortunate that even since then, nothing has been done about Rochester to make it more secure, forcing us to risk a minor conflict or two with the more violent groups in the Rogues to make our dealings more stable and less vulnerable.
It is wise for the vast majority of us to not put any bets on this little deal if it is not even fully functioning yet. I was seeking mainly an approval and an allowance to risk my own assets to see this through.
A silent support will be all I could be asking for at this moment, Signora Amelia, as I am well aware of the importance of the main route for Malta and its economy. My intent never was to cut off the Rogues or the Junkers entirely, on the contrary, I wanted to diversify our portfolio a little bit to give us some leverage over them if they will misbehave without sinking our own economy. The Xenos' willingness to sabotage the Corsair's income is an added bonus to all of this.
I value your ongoing support, Signora Amelia, and I will keep you informed through this channel or more public ones about this whole venture's development.
There have been a minor issue as one of the hackers, Cryptonic, has almost witnessed the new deal and forced our convoy to disperse to shake him off and to deliver their goods afterwards. They have been successful, thanks to the skills of our pilots, but it is a reminder that the caution is in order.
Nevertheless, it was the first and major success of this new trade route, Signor Amelia, and that will be all for now.

Señorita de Marco,
Apologies for the delay, we've been a bit busy with cleaning up some mess back at home. 3 modular installations, the latter being a more fortified one.
The scale of the delivery is irrelevant considering this is still in a very early phase. I've been informed a little bit too late about señor Bastiano Piacentini already planning ahead with delivery arrangments, whatever you have agreed upon will probably continue as planned, however, we'll only sanction our deliveries for neutral stations, from where the Xenos involved can handle the rest.
We are not going to risk getting into any unpleasant charade that this whole operation could result in.
As far as Hispania Imperial is concerned, these deliveries are officially going to well established, or independent clients. If that's fine with you, our people can coordinate with yours for such deliveries.
