I honestly quite enjoy the idea of an LPI faction purely focusing on nothing but credits and profit but at the same time I feel that asking people for money before intercepting them (hostiles) is not the right way to play it out. Seeing as this is a Police faction though, honestly that might just be fine. Leave the people that are only in If to provoke fights for the military, they should be the ones dealing with actual threats and not the Police. The only concern I have in that regard are the awkward encounters people will be having ingame, a lawful straight up refusing to engage into combat unless paid by their enemies will probably result in very iffy and awkward situations.
Then again, asking for "donations" from people that ask for your service is completely fine and I think it fits the description and the goal of the faction.
Good Luck
It wasn't like that - there was roleplay that "we saw nothing" if you send one million first, perhaps you were a Freelancer passing by my report will say - the guy that complained just ignored any attempts on that kind of roleplay, or on RP after the trader I was protecting died and started shooting. I got away from him(no combat docking, just flying away mid fight) and offered to finish the fight if he sends that same one million that was asked initially
Assisting is fine of course - we still need government agencies to make arrests, pay for transport and housing of criminals and can assist with that. But if we meet a hostile solo it will go the money acquisition way - either issue fines or ask for bribes etc.
There's various LPI Infocards and rumors - some mention LPI prefers to focus on making the people working without focusing on arrests.
But there is also a rumor that LPI will take you in under any dubious pretense because they need workers. But in practice unless some ultra commited unlawful plays along this is just hard to impossible to pull off in game without powergaming, and you just become standard Navy ID ship "disabling" vessels and "oops, escape pod got away"
AN ANNOUNCEMENT: The Liberty Vice is being as of today absorbed by the Liberty Police, Inc.
All our officers will transfer and report to the main office of the Corporation. We will become one of the departments, retain some level of autonomy and uphold the same values we always have, no doubt becoming the most profitable in-field officers of LPI. These are exciting times, we expect you to serve yourself and the company with same dilligence you have up until today.
