Hacker Made Scrapclouds

You know this latest hacker attack business where they are attempting to cause mischief by generating huge "spills" of scrap just appearing in space etc? Well, what if, once its figured out, the technique were to be used to generate, say, random wrecks with some usable salvage on board for those people who have a junker type style.....or maybe ore rich asteroids in the mining zones since the mining balance puts people off of that activity [since theres more profit in trade]....If possible, it would be cool to use this hack technique to actually improve the server for the players.....and most ironic and amusing too.

Interesting idea, but it would have to be in small use. Lag is bad enough as it is.:(

Hah.. Good idea.. let's say 5000 cardamine from smuggler who didn't make to Rochester... so new guys could earn some money... But Cardamine should happen every 10th "Ion Storm" or more.... And usual commodities should appear every 3rd or 4th Storm... or just randomly...

But if LN or LPI or LSF finds it before some traders .. they could destroy it...

it'd be nice to have wreck style asteroids to mine. varying sizes with hp that increased proportionately to it's size. the bigger they are the more "loot" drops.

the only problem with wreck style asteroids would be having to wait for a server reboot to be able to mine them.......UNLESS every asteroid was made this way but i would imagine that would take ages to do.

could you imagine though? actually mining your way through a asteroid field, once one asteroid is mined you move on to the other.

would that cause lag? what i mean is how does the game treat wrecks? if they are treated like an npc ship then yes that would practically destroy the server......would revamp mining for sure though if it worked

The idea wouldn't work. When a player isn't around even items with the longest set timer disappear after two and a half minuets. Mines, CMs, dropped loot. anything that isn't a permanent fixture.
