I would have prefered if both titain ships were destroyable. Or if for next time Story can just announce which side is expected to win so it doesn't feel like the event ending was railroaded to avoid a Liberty Loss
Disliked the event. Spawns ruined the goal of the event. FL ID transports. Huge disbalance in numbers and classes. No in-chat event progress notifications. For that, we could have just gather with all possible IDs for this location and pew without any consequences.

For me it was fun to play on zoners side as "useless" bomber" (because of my bad weapons loadout) because of that I just try to escort transports.
Funny facts that I noticed:
1) first two or three transports was ignored by liberty side. I saw how pelican (probably it was him) transport tried very hard to get attention of Navy - flew and fired in their direction, I even imagined his *sigh of sadness* - no one pays attention to him.
2) zoners try to make shield made of themselfs to protect last three transports from navy.
About some freelancers on our side - checked one of them he used zoner id but with freelancer IFF. About others can't said anything.
Oh, about pre-announce who will win - for me its like spoilers, I think someone may lose enthusiasm for participation when they know where everything will lead.
But this is just my opinion.

Oh I know Liberty had to win from an inRP perspective. The Penn Zoners cannot hold off the LibNavy if they want to take the system, but un-rigging some of the fine details, such as the LNS-Alma being lost in the process could have made it feel like the Zoners at least made LibNavy pay a decent price for the system, rather than just waiting to lose. And ultimately the loss of one battleship and other assets is a drop in the bucket for Liberty.
Of course this could all be moot depending on what exactly Part 2 looks like.

I believe that this does the opposite -- proving that battleships aren't just lost at every other step. They're powerful, well-armed, and hard-to-destroy ships. Events that help solidify this are very cool and good, though of course without any teleport shenanigans (funny story on this: I and Reeves agreed to lower shields every now and then, but given they're admin shields, they took so much time to come back up that Alma was well off to the other world before it was able to protect itself again)
On the other side, I can say that there is room for improvement. As the person that flew that Zoner titan, I can also safely say that the feedback has been taken into consideration for the next events (stuff like factions using smaller ships, worse guns, etc to make the fight seem more believable instead of forcing a loss down people's throats)
That being said, I do believe that there's plenty room for improvement on the communications side for the titans and faction goals, i.e. here we could have had the marine transports themselves try to make a run for the planet after the Zoner titan was destroyed. I'm just throwing around ideas, but I think, as a person that mostly sat this event out bar the titan fight, that such events have much more roleplay potential and obviously PvP potential than old variants of events where it was either just trade, or just PvP. But these are just my 2 cents.
Despite being destroyed, the Alma was either admin moved away before destruction and then magically reappeared with full health or was never meant to be destroyed or damaged?
Why the transport pilots/players either flew in a straight line without cruise (when outside of range of enemies) and never used batts or bots?
Both of these situations have bad optics and seem like the entire event was rigged for Liberty from the get go. Sorry if that's not the case.
Regardless, of the truth, the optics make me not want to do another event of this nature.
Regardless of my opinions, I am thankful for events being run and spurring activity on the server.
Why are you reading this? Don't you have something else you'd rather be doing? Why are you still reading this? Go out and explore, trade, fight, pirate, or even die thanks to SLRC autopilot. You're still here? What do you want, a poem? Fine. Roses are red, violets are blue, I lose the game, and so did you.
Not much to complain about, it was a fun event and I had a good time. In the end of the day it is a story event, so for me it's just nice to be part of the story being written. There will always be something to complain about, but instead may as well just enjoy it for the good fun it was, similarly to events I have hosted before.
Respawn was fun even though I think some adequate warning should be given before it is disabled, so that people do not find themselves starting the final fight on half their supply of nanobots after surviving for a long time.

One of the weak points of the event from our side was definitely not making it clear that the "Titans" were there, essentially, as scenery and a minor way to even the player number odds slightly if needed.
Quote:... and heroic assaults against them in smaller craft will yield little success.
This was meant to be a subtle hint towards this, but in hindsight clearly it was far too subtle.
The Alma going down for what was effectively a Zoner Carrier that was "made up on the spot" was not something we were intending on doing here.
This was the first time I or Reeves organized this type of server event (at this scale), so we overlooked a fair few things. There are definitely a lot of lessons for us to learn here.
Last-minute deciding to make the event a respawn event, despite it not being labeled as such in the OP, was another "symptom" of our inexperience. I do believe it was the right call, as I suspect the fighting would have ended or would have been reduced to - most likely - a dozen Zoners chasing a handful of Liberty ships around very quickly; making the "transport escort" aspect pointless. I'm personally not a huge fan of respawn events, and I think neither is Reeves, so we tried to build an event without that mechanic, but this setup clearly wasn't suitable.
Despite all of this, I hope everyone had fun! It was a big, chaotic furball that was fun to watch, so I hope it was at least as fun to play. Thanks everyone for coming.
Do keep the feedback coming, too. It'll only help us improve future events.

Yep, that's another thing. Next time we should let everyone regroup a final time and brawl it out, I think.

Its admin shield got destroyed by an explosion, so after the initial /shields, its shields never came back up. It was expected/intended to take a bit of damage but not be completely destroyed, but obviously it died incredibly quickly at that point. I beamed it away as it would've made the rest of the event pretty awkward if it went down then. As I wrote earlier, though, we definitely could've handled the "titans" better as they were really just set pieces here, but that wasn't communicated.

Full disclosure: the Alma versus Zoner Carrier portion was most definitely rigged. The Alma originally was planned to be the Zoners' "doomsday timer", slowly creeping up on Erie to blow up the Zoner Carrier and do Alma things. Clearly didn't quite play out that way as the ship got involved in some Q-Ship cleanup action early on.

After the Zoners pulled ahead by virtue of two transports making it away without anyone even batting an eye at them, the transport player made a bit of an effort to not make it a completely flawless victory for the Zoners. Maybe they overdid it, maybe they didn't. The loadout strength of the transports was highly variable too and it was up to the pilot's discretion to make them "fair" against the players that showed up, to at least give them a bit of a fighting chance. I will personally say that fine-tuning transport loadouts with beefy event armors against effectively unknown aggressors (for all we knew 40 Liberty Navy ships could've shown up against 5 Zoners) is always going to be hard, and a bit of deliberate "user error" on the pilot's part for the loadouts that turn out surprisingly strong is something I think is a good call. We just can't account for every possibility with an open event like this.
I will say that we did weigh the transports player's "self restraint" as a point in favor of the Zoners, as if the player had fully min-maxed the loadouts more transports would have undoubtedly made it to safety.

Definitely still had an absolute blast, and I think that the majority will say the same! Don't take my couple of commentaries/suggestions as a negative. At the very least its just nice to see events make a comeback after a dry spell.
