Since the supergate to Omicron Nu is now open to the public, I've taken the liberty (no pun intended) to conduct a little field research of my own.
I've gathered reports from different sources indicating the presence of space-faring alien organism lifesigns in multiple hotspots across Sirius, resembling the signature of the same ones we use in Atka to produce Stabiline. There were two additional hotspots at a great distance of each other: one in Baffin, and the other in Omicron Zeta.
I visited Baffin first, home system of the Temporary Autonomous Zoners. Nice fellas, weird sect, but they were kind enough to let me in their system. I asked around about the local alien organisms, they appear to be fish-like omnivores that produce breathable oxygen and some extra biowaste. The locals call them "Scrubbies", and claim they eat "random matter". I highly doubt they consume any and every bit of matter, otherwise they'd be making holes in space stations. They're also said to be genetically related to Nomads, which is quite fascinating. The locals love "fishing" them with bait, and it seems like they're the main export of Baffin.
I then went all the way through the supergate to visit the dangerous yet fascinating Omicron Zeta. Luckily, I met up with a group of Core fighter pilots who saved me from a minor Nomad raid on the way. Honestly, I went there based on a rumor, but I was surprised to find out it was true. A derelict Zoner colony ship, floating in vacuum, surrounded by alien organisms with a similar bio-signature to the one I was looking for. The locals aboard Capetown Station told me the colony ship warped in due to the collapse of a jump hole, and over time gained the attention of unidentified life forms too small to get the attention of alien hunters.
I'm not sure whether these organisms are the same species as the "Scrubbies", but their attraction to the derelict ship might be due to the materials it's made of being a source of food for them. In which case, it'll give us a more specific clue as to what they eat, rather than "random matter".
I've brought samples of both for us to analyze in our labs. We might find them handy for the development of future products. I do highly recommend that we gather more samples, since the ones I brought might not be enough for an extensive research. If we manage to find a relation between life forms so many light years apart from each other, it might be a new scientific breakthrough.
You'll find the neural net entry for Sedona Station in Baffin, describing "Scrubbies", attached below.

First report on this channel. I've got some good news and some bad news. Good news first: I've been working with a gunboat captain by the name of Levan Harlow recently. He's a bright kid, though he hasn't been in space for long. Still, he's happy to work with Cryer as an escort for reasonable rates, and he's good company so long as you don't mind explaining the world to him since he's a little naïve. I recommend hiring him on if you see him in space; firepower like that tends to scare off most would-be pirates before they even try anything. Callsign is "Gemini Kay".
Bad news: we had a close brush with death in Zeta. An alien came across us while we were hauling supplies for the project. I'd never encountered one before, so I was too busy shitting myself to get any guncams captured. However, if I understood that... weird, telepathic... way that it communicated properly, it was pretty annoyed that we're working in the area. I don't know anything about these monsters, but it was REALLY. Big. Even with a heavy escort, I was pretty sure my crew and I would be unable to get out of there alive. In an attempt to show some goodwill, we both jettisoned all the supplies we had, and the alien sent a burst of energy at the cargo pods that eviscerated them immediately before speeding off, leaving both Levan's ship and mine to get the hell out of dodge.
I think the jig is up. Is the Core going to help us here?

Ms. Tanaka,
I've received your report loud and clear. Since you were gone, several Nomad vessels have been spotted in the area.
I did not expect them to find the base so early in the construction levels. At this time I find it hard to believe we'd be able to salvage whatever will be left if they attack.
I've moved my personal lab away from the system and contacted The Core to inform them of the threat. Full evacuation is advised, do NOT by any means attempt to be brave. We will resume the project if it survives the attack. Otherwise, we'll have to think of something else that'd allow us to closely inspect the organisms in Omicron Zeta.

This is Spencer, reporting from the outside world once again.
With the recent massive jump hole collapse event and the economical changes that followed, I thought it would be wise to run a follow-up survey of the Alien Organism situation.
It seems that the organisms have migrated, and now appear in large numbers at the Omicron Theta system. Following our failed operation in Omicron Zeta, seems like it's a much safer area to conduct research. Even more so, our cahoots with MFE might help us out both with logistics and data collection. I think that this is nigh time to expand our operations into the Omicrons once again.
I've also noticed that some manufacturers have updated their ship lines to fit newly discovered minable resources around Sirius. I've been looking around for better, safer ships to use for our operation expansion into the Omicrons. One ship that really caught my eye is the Rheinland Armored Transport, named "Ragnar". It offers thick armor to survive the radiation, advanced defense systems to deal with potential pirate attacks, and on top of that - supports mining systems compatible with the extraction of Alien Organisms from asteroid chunks. Adding more into the mix of goodness, since the ship was produced originally to carry toxic waste for ALG, it also has a completely isolated cargo hold. Perfect for preventing any disease or radiation leak from the organisms we deal with. Sounds like the perfect match if you ask me.
I highly recommend contacting ALG or the Rheinland government and trying to strike a deal to purchase a fleet of Ragnars. There's probably a bunch of them lying around. Seems like it'd be a massive upgrade over our current fleet of Kin freighters.
Spencer out.
