The only worthy contribution to be made is to just say the fact that these people (characters?) are not fun to interact with on any level. When you as an individual that want to have fun by opening up Discovery Freelancer and logging in the -- already very underplayed and under-represented -- lawful factions of the world and have to only come across this tier of... I don't know, anger, or whatever it is one would classify this type of behavior, you are only led down a path where you either quit (I've done this already once literally 3-4 weeks ago because I could not stand the roleplay environment anymore) or turn to simply taking affairs into your own hands by finding a way to, to be as polite as possible, redirect these players elsewhere on the server.
I am truly sorry for the comments made earlier, I know that the stuff I said wasn't Epic nor Good, but the unfortunate reality that we have to contend with is that this comm is very much representative of the existence of a small cult in the playerbase that does nothing productive for the server other than creating stories and roleplay that is highly questionable ooRP and even more so inRP; as outlined by the users above, how and why are there suddenly 20 dozen Freelancers and Zoners angry about a short-lived change in government? Why is there so much involvement from groups that have absolutely 0 to do with the Erie story? etcetera. I am fully aware that not every roleplay thread is for every other average Joe to digest, but as staff seems keen to do nothing other than spam warning levels instead of releasing either a statement on the whole topic or close down the thread due to its obviously very controversial nature, then I will again bring up the same things I said when I used to be a developer to Haste (apparently they fell on deaf ears): the less admins involve themselves in moderating this community, the more there will be a plethora of splinter groups formed to "moderate" the players on their own.
As for what I intend, I don't have much to say. I woke up some days ago after I retook 1ic of BAF, threw out the bounties, and called it a day. There's not much that's bannable or offensive in playing your role as a leading (lawful, military) faction. Now whether or not the sums are justified, I couldn't tell you -- that's a topic on its own because of how bloated the economy of Discovery is.

I completely agree with some points made here, but house and corporate lawfuls have always been portrayed as the subtle bad guys (lawful evil I guess?) and with their own agenda, Omi claims the GRN never had to deal with the same level of hostility inRP but i recall different, specially by the end of the war and even more when Leeds was getting nuked.
Houses are portrayed as evil because people (read: humans) have a tendency to support the underdog due to our nature. It is why we have an average of 10 well written unlawful characters vs 2-3 lawful ones by comparison. And that's perfectly fine, because every story has an antagonist. The problems arise when said antagonists get treated less as players and fellow human beings and more as individuals that are somehow sympathetic to a number of ideologies I shan't name.
Also nah, Omi is right. There was never ever in the history of this server any such blatant incursions of RL political agendas into the roleplay environment without receiving a swift removal. In fact, the words fascist, commie, etcetera weren't even heard except on extremely rare occasions (SCRA is the only case in the past where I know for certain that such terminology was utilized) compared to the use they have nowadays. I don't know how to feel about them myself, it's probably best if there's some serious, and I really do mean it, talks about how these things should be handled (or not handled, rather).

Alright, that's a fair take, although I don't think being called names inRP by your enemy is much of a big deal, I very much expect that, call me thick skinned I suppose. But I guess that it's totally understandable that newcomers may not get the whole picture and may take it personally, I've seen it happening already.
Well that's more or less what a good chunk of these posts are related to. You'd be kidding yourself if you were to think that the vets of the mod will ever quit permanently, but that doesn't change the fact that if a newbie joins the server, decides to give Liberty Navy a try, and then ends up getting called all kinds of things... well, suffice to say that that person isn't going to stick around. And it's not about being thick-skinned or thin-skinned or lizard-skinned either, it's about common sense. Are we truly and really so creatively bankrupt as a community that we can only rant about how X and Y is a fascist for playing the Liberty Navy?

It's clear there's a lot of strong feelings about this stuff one way or another, but what resonates most strongly with me is the kind of quasi-IC vitriol that gets directed at lawfuls. You can see it clearly in this message dump here.

I don't know who this clown is, but whoever they are, I think they should either take themselves back to Twitter or cool their head a little, step back, and come back with the mentality that it's all just a game. I don't see how this is fun for anyone involved, and I don't really consider myself particularly thin-skinned either. It's just not pleasant.
I was involved in leading GRN| in one form or another for about 5 years, on and off, and I can't remember experiencing even a fraction of this kind of ""in-character"" treatment from other characters at the time. Not from BAF, not from LN, not even from CR| -- the faction that we probably had the most bad blood with. To me, it's very indicative of real-world political attitudes (to be even more blunt about it, largely American politics) slipping into the roleplay environment in a way that is very jarring and very alienating to be on the receiving end of. I cannot for one second blame lawful players for getting sick of taking another big fat L when this is the kind of context they're trying to operate in.
So fun fact, Dagger.of.Erie was actually me. Anyone who actually knows me or has had dealings with me knows that I have no problem with any Liberty players out of character. I don't really have problems with anyone here in any context if you know me or have spoken to me at all. To me, it appears like you are the one who has your feelings hurt from an in-character perspective. If that's the case, then I'm sorry you feel that way. It was never intended to upset you but spoken from the viewpoint of a really pissed off Zoner that hates Liberty for what they've done to their home. If you want to continue to dislike me because of that one encounter, then I suppose that is your prerogative.
Oh, and as a side note, I don't use Twitter nor any social media...in case you were wondering. I also don't believe I'm a clown, but I've never tried to apply the makeup, so maybe I'd be a good one.
Why are you reading this? Don't you have something else you'd rather be doing? Why are you still reading this? Go out and explore, trade, fight, pirate, or even die thanks to SLRC autopilot. You're still here? What do you want, a poem? Fine. Roses are red, violets are blue, I lose the game, and so did you.

Well thing is, that badly written story that's frankly sort o nonsensical and just made so that Penn's will inevitably become independent was ignored by all active players who kept roleplaying with Zoners - there was confusion with the Fascist stuff etc. It was over the top really. Called that by actual enemies? Sure. By ships that just roleplayed with you and are white rephacked just because of low quality story posts nobody asked for? Too much yeah, new players were actually put off a bit.
But like with anything you can vote with your feet - the Penn arc is ignored largely, hauling Zoners left alone, I don't think there was a single cargo runner interception yet by anyone - don't like something ? Ignore it, it's just a game, nobody can force you to do nothing really, you invest your own time.
Same with reactions to posts like the "leak" there were some good points about Sirius wide Comms being practically close to impossible - by responding you validate the premise in a way, you partake so to speak.

I should probably clarify that, to the best of my knowledge, I've actually never had an in-game encounter with you at all. I have no idea who you are, but rest assured that I haven't had my feelings personally hurt by you in any capacity.
What I am saying, though, is that I think you come across very poorly in those logs I quoted. I don't think there is anything particularly interesting about sitting around and being subjected to verbal abuse and vitriol, and I think the excuse of 'it's just roleplay/it's all in character!' only carries you so far. I also feel like the 'anyone who actually knows me knows that I'm not X, I'm actually Y..." excuse is one I've seen about a trillion times before from people who spew the same kind of bile left right and centre, so you'll excuse me for taking that with a grain of salt too.
I played an ultranationalistic maniac as my main character for the better half of a decade and I would still be willing to bet I never came across half as caustic as you managed to. It's up to you whether you want to take that feedback on board or not; as long as I continue to not meet you in-game, it won't really affect me.

Well, that's all your opinion. Sorry that you feel that way and it painted me in a bad light in your mind. However, if you block out everyone who has a differing opinion to yours then you're bound to end up alone before you know it.
Doesn't phase me, I've never met you before either. You do you, boo. I'm gonna move on now, enjoy your game time.

The story of Erie being occupied is a good story but not designed for the current playerbase. Unfortunately as much as I may dislike some small bits of it I cannot condemn for one second neither Reeves nor Erremnart nor anyone else that took part in developing this arc.
I don't really want to spout insults again but to quote Thunderer, most RP done regarding Erie's rebellion is Hollywood tier of nonsense and frankly, as you said, best left ignored. The story itself has a great and pretty nice potential -- an up-to-now massively-powerful House having a rebellion in the middle of it?! Sign me up!!! But the reality is more akin to what we saw in Star Wars sequels, where ideology (somehow, in a video game) comes above character development and even higher up than logic itself, due to the fact that half the groups involved in the stories around Erie aren't even supposed to be there in the first place.
What is to learn, hopefully, from it, is that lawfuls need actual activities akin to the Tau pew pews, instead of storytelling done on forums. I might be contracting my own modus operandi with stating these things, but it is what it is. Most lawful players want to play and fight, not enter a dozen story threads about how their actions are XYZ.
