Hi,
Long time player here,
I know you just had an event for Cardamine, but now that it's over not only are the prices completely borked, but the smuggling run itself no longer exists because the jumpholes are gone.
As someone that plays this game as a nostalgia fix, taking away this OG smuggling run has kinda killed the vibe for me and rendered my Outcast IFF'ed transports pretty much worthless.
Are there plans to reinstate a Cardi run, or is it gone for good?
OC has been nerfed time and time again since 4.84 due to the dev biased Corsair player base.
I’m amazed there was a cardimine event.
Currently you have a ‘high risk for 100% cost reward’ sell price if you can dock on a OSAC ferry which for some reason is the highest sell point.
There is a single PoB you can buy which has a ‘Cardimine refinery’ which is probably as close as you can get to anything worthwhile…
Short answer: Doubtful.
Best profit in the game for at least the past year is with Xeno Relics. Despite it being a mined commodity it takes up 1 cargo hold space instead of two & you can get it for free and sell it to the Corsair DTR base for more than any NPC sell point. The very short run only features DTR player alt’s on Core ships to prevent you as an indie from earning credits as a non-DTR player.

The Outcast ID has a ZOI that extends to 5.5 of the 7 Houses, allows 5Kers and Battleships and constantly flings these Battleships with their low-fertility, irreplacable crews into New York at least every other day like it has since at least 4.85. In what possible way has this been nerfed, especially in disproportionate comparison to the Corsairs or other unlawfuls?

Check vanilla lore.
(Just a minute number of things as there really are far too many to list, I’ll state the most recent)For OC:
Where is Valletta Shipyard which was next to Malta gone?
Why is Corsica smaller than the Xeno dry dock base?
Why has all of the OC bases around Bretonia including another shipyard gone?
How have ‘slaves’ revolted against the most secure planet in Sirius?
How did Santa Verne disappear to be a wreck?
The base in 37 which had a battleship close by, that’s now where Valletta shipyard was.
In comparison;
Check Corsair start point, barely being able to survive by eating one another, a GB and a bad one at that their largest ship. Compare to today.

Outcasts and Corsairs operate differently from each other. There's no need for any kind of parity. Outcasts aren't building an empire, thus they have no need for bases further away from Malta. Bases they've lost around and in Omicron Alpha are consequences of their slavery they never truly needed (yes, Outcasts had no need for slaves for 800 years of their existence) combined with their quite considerable number of enemies who'd exploit any opening.
Outcasts are awesome as they are. Their ID is god-tier, their ships are nice (aside from snubs) and lore is cool.
As for their economy - economy is still basically WIP and things are being moved around.

Weird how in the past slavery was one of the biggest deals, then, with the RP background being that the slaves provided the workforce the Outcasts couldn't produce themselves thanks to Cardamine reducing their fertility. But I guess that's just another thing that got retconned in 5.0.

Another splendid 5.0 moment. Though, I guess this gives me a reason to do a little infocard sifting. Imagine if Outcasts are also on the "Brink of Extinction" list. That would indeed be funny.
I'll do something about my superiority complex when I cease to be superior.

Are you sure it's broken?
This route works: Alpha - Tau-37 - Tau-23 - Kyushu - Shikoku - Galileo - Colorado - Ontario or New York
You take Cardamine from Alpha and Counterfeit Computerware from Ontario.
EDIT: Cardamine sellprice in Ontario: 208$ per units | Counterfeit Computerware in Alpha: 67$ | So that means with a 5ker you will get 1.375.000$ aka 137 million credits in the old economy which is pretty awesome.

Vanilla Outcasts weren't slavers - so, the slavery was a DIsco addition which means it was relatively short-lived practice from their perspective. Instead of retconning it, it was evolved and simply stopped being effective + also a huge security risk (slaves always rebel in the end - not a question of "if", but "when").
Given how rich they are, they can just buy robots to do the work for them instead.
For you guys saying there are valid routes - I have a full hold of Cardamine now and it isn't worth more than a few hundred credits per unit seemingly anywhere, at least not any of the previous sellpoints. And yes where are the slaves? The slave/cardi run was one of the best things about Freelancer when I played 10 years ago, and now it's just gone because "reasons"?
I was on holiday during the time of the event and didn't make a single credit on that and don't have the credits to outfit a new ship for something else.
If you are trying to attract returning players, maybe don't take away the cool nostalgia bits that made the game great in the first place.
