Then you are a slave to a game. I don't feel like forcing players to log if there's nothing fun for them to do. Grinding activity for official status that doesn't actually provide any benefits except dedicated forum isn't sufficient reason to play the game.
LH~ was the longest running official faction and that's the testament to how much players within LH~ achieved when it was fun to play. It was an honor, my fellow Hackers. Official or not, we might log on when there's fun stuff to do.

Also, imagine forcing someone to do something online. kek. They just gonna say "no" or ignore you, now what....

There is no roleplay standards for indies, you can do whatever you want, so joining an OF is actually a detriment to you if you don't feel like putting effort into roleplay. There isn't really anything an official faction can provide that an indie couldn't get out of DMing his friends to all log the same ID.
I couldn't agree more with that statement. It's nice to have your own forum section and your own unique ID but beyond that there's really no incentive to be an OF. The amount of effort and RP required to get a perk approved takes months. In many cases, you need to wait for weeks for other parties to respond to RP and also weeks for the Staff team to evaluate and make a decision. Then you have to wait for the next opportunity if you fail. There's also a huge limit on what I could actually ask for. Beyond a XR boost on our ID (which I am not even sure it currently works), what could I possibly ask for more? Good luck getting a tech-compatibility.
In fact, the current model for OFs disincentivizes recruitment because getting new players and being more active naturally correlates with a higher chance/occurrence for sanctions. So you are either forced to take only pros and be elitist or take newbies and have them untagged for months and hope they don't break any rules after you finally give them the tag. And of course, people are naturally not happy they have to wait some time just to get a ship tagged. This is also not a guarantee that they still won't break some arbitrary rule.
It would be nice to have more incentives for OFs for sure. I don't know how difficult it would be to implement from a technical perspective, but it would be great if you could be visually distinct from other factions. For example, personally I would love if DTR ships had bright red engines like our logo, or distinct colored engines or lights in general.
Basically, anything to make you visually distinct. A logo on the ships, a unique base model, maybe a unique color palette to the ships that's tied to ID. Just shooting ideas. Obviously that's tied behind resources - whether it's manpower, tech, limitations, or something else but it would be nice to have something to strive towards. Or at the very least setting you apart from the indies other than a simple tag.
Let's face it, both FR5s and forcing indies to do something in-game as an OF simply doesn't happen.
On a separate note, the current activity requirements are fine. If you can't meet those, you are simply not playing Freelancer. There's no point in having OFs on life support that contribute 0 in actual gameplay.
Give me the liberty to know, to utter, and to argue freely according to conscience, above all liberties.

If you are saying that logging is boring, tedious, chore. That's logging just due to grind that you are forcing to go through for keeping official status. That's not what video game is about. If you find it fun to grind, that's your choice. I can't stand logging just to loiter around for "forced activity" just so I have to log another quarter for the same principle.
Also, staff made absolutely no effort to make being official faction beneficial for the longest time (faction perks was something that was available previously through admin/dev requests as it is to be honest). And nothing that makes it easier to remain official despite server overall activity dwindling down.
My prime emotion for losing official status as LH~ is nostalgia. No sadness, no anger. Just nostalgia as we were official for a very long time.
Anything, anywhere, at any time, can be removed with no explanation... the same things are being said over and over with no change in dynamic. What started as a crazy, drunken theory is really starting to test it's bounds of truth. It really seems like there is a plot to destroy this community to justify shutting off the server. Idk... I'll check back in another month to see if craniums have evacuated rectums.
It ain't about what you are capable of, it's about what you're willing to do.

We have caps, but cap gameplay was butchered too. This combined with devs not caring and not understanding our faction just zaps the will. The time requirements would be fine if we had devs who care.
They deleted many gameplay mechanics without any communication with the relevant factions and expected nothing would change.
Let's single out economy out: They remove most major trade routes and many iconic commodities that people built their factions around. Afterwards they say that economy isn't finished. This was like 5 months ago or something? Still waiting for economy to come out of pre-alpha level development.
Come on, you can't expect factions to continue existing when you callously rip out their gameplay mechanics.

Staff don't give a shit about that. They want mindless grinding to keep official status. It's easier for them than actually looking at factions and noticing something is disrupting regular activities.
Being official should result from genuine activity, not just mindless grinding for status. That's where you failed in my opinion, which is better that you didn't kept going with it, ~2 years was enough ,take a break and enjoy the game, there's still stuff to do.
I think we critique enough what staff did and how it impacted our gameplay, hopefully they can improve from our suggestions

like spend hundreds of hours grinding out pobs for uhhh
err
secondary turrets that arent actually entirely useless for battleships i guess!
wow!
i could take my pick of one of the thousands of garbage chinese mobile games available for my phone and do the same thing (and probably have more fun lmao)
at the end of the day the gameplay loops and interactions the devs are choosing for us have been done by other games, and done considerably better. why play this and have a worse experience than another product that did it better? for the community?
not much of that left
