The mining ship has enough trouble flying through the current fields.

The best thing I can suggest is hire a few people to blast rocks for you. Either that or have more patience. Most of my main character's money came from mining. Sure it takes a long time, but it's still fun in its own way.

It wouldn't be a good idea to have destroyable asteroid fields, because then you'd have people like Zapp in his Sabre running around going "*Smack* *Asteroid blows up* lolz d1e rockz!"

On to the subject at hand. I once saw in a mod, can't remember which one, but the badlands asteroids would spin off if a ship bigger than a battleship would hit them, that way the battleships could sneak through the field.

I hate to brake it to you, but all radius damage doesn't touch asterodis.... so you can make it 50k range if you'd like but it still wouldn't do anything to get you ore...
