Complaining about getting owned by Taiidans and Red Cats? That's not the SN's fault, that's the ridiculous balancing stunt of the ships. Methinks we should lean toward Challenger, Falcata, Snubnose as a better idea of how they actually perform- none of them are all that great (before people go "snub owns" look at the hitbox, its literally twice the size of the ship) and none of them are terrible- in short, no one complains about them in either direction.
Just a suggestion... if we make all of these 'supernova equivalents' have slow speed (nothing above 300m/s) and then up the speed on mini razors, it might encourage some bombers to equip the razors instead for taking on more agile targets - primarily gunboats, other bombers, and small transports.
It kinda ticks me off that right now if you want to be an effective bomber you HAVE to use a supernova, no matter what. If you double up on razors or use an inferno/razor you just cant cut it against anything else - you lack the cruise disruptor for pirating/stopping engine kills, and you cant do enough damage quickly enough to take out a capship.
The damage of the razors is bad - 19k or so a hit on hull, 40k~ on hull if you've got two equipped. The issue is that they're not as efficient or as easy to use as a supernova. With a SN, you only need one shot to land every time it's up to do a huge amount of damage - the only problem there is hitting faster targets (like gunships/gunboats).
So, how about we bump the mini razor up to 600 m/s, drop the supernova to 280 or 300 tops, and lower the damage of all the supernova-equivalent weapons by about 10-20k from what they are now (sn now does 138k hull damage or something around there, so drop it to about 120k).
I'm not sure what you're getting at. You're frustrated that bombers lack variety in their anti capship loadouts and are forced to rely on the supernova/inferno to get the job done, so you want to nerf the supernova while giving a speed boost to the anti fighter torp gun, the minirazor?
Minis are grand anti fighter weapons and are nice tools for taking down the recharge of a gunboat if you have one mounted, but they're very poor anti-cap weapons that are increasingly worthless as you face off against larger vessels. Think about the amount of damage one must inflict on a cap VI Liberty gunboat, multiply that by damage delt per mini razor (two minis, if you sacrificed a CD for the pure anti-fighter loadout) and then calculate recharge/powerplant needs.
The bomber becomes dramatically less effective that way.
We experimented with the theory in the LPI, essentially using 'nerfed' bombers. Eventually it was dropped as we couldn't stop transports and it was ineffective against gunboats.

I don't understand you. You are complaining that mini's aren't good enough against caps, so they need speed improvement?
How can that help?
600 speed? I don't think you are aware what that means.
I even know now a few people who can hit very well with mini razor, head to head.
600 speed would mean hitting from behind in a chase fight or whenever you want.
Also, it has nothing to do with capital ships. It only promotes anti-fighter campaign.
And you'd get more anti-fighter bombers.

Mini razor is alrighty... except the part where the gunboat razor is only half as powerful...
Since every faction will get their supernovas, and they are basicly the weapon that makes a bomber a bomber, we should stick to it's couse... But rather than anything nerf it's speed, to lower it's usefulness against fighters... At 200 speed perhaps rearly anyone could hit a fighter.
Now at 280 even i can make an occasional lucky shot, and i'm a poor pilot at best. Caps will still be under fire a lot, and gunboats will be nerfed as it is so perhaps the supernova nerf wouldn't budge them much...
Incidently, supernova can then be used like a real bomb... flying in zeroing in on your cap, and then releasing it... not the current supercannon that it is...
I' mean it's like a bomber would chase around a fighter and then drop bombs on it... isn't that silly? As things stand now, droping bombs at fighters is a viable tactic, the one that works faster than trying to shoot them with regular guns...

You can make a lucky shot on a guy who's going straight to you.
You'd be able to do the same with 200 speed. With 100 too.
Nerfing SN speed even further will just make fighters lazier. At least I think.
Also, some GB's are hard to hit even with 280 speed.
I am pretty good in a bomber, but still I have A LOT of trouble hitting a BH gunship, or even Rogue GB if it's piloted by a good captain.

Well it's you guys who are going with your head on a bomb. Bombers are not supposed to be countered by going head to head with 'em, you know.
Stick to their tail.
