ya know, I just realized something.. If we keep bringing this game to their attention.. they may say "screw releasing the source" and rerelease the game, seeing as how everyone wants it.
Called up the number. With my advanced vocabulary, I managed to get to someone kind of high up, here's something as to what the conversation sounded like:
M: I understand you want information on the release of the source code for Freelancer?
L: Yeah, it's a great game, and has a lot of potential.
M: I can't say I've ever played it myself, but I have heard of it. Digital Anvil made it too, correct?
L: Yeah they were a partner.
M: Ah. Well, you know, they probably won't release it, they've got something like a 300 year copyright on the game or something.
L: Does it hurt to try?
M: No, not really.
L: So, are you the guy I need to talk to? Or not?
M: Probably not, I'll connect you to my boss.
This goes on for about an hour until I get to the supervisor, and he tells me to call another number.
I've got the feeling they're just going to keep running us in circles, telling us to E-mail other people or call other numbers just so we stay off their back.
ya know, if digital anvil still exists.. maybe talk to them about it? they may release the code if they are still partners with MS. wouldn't hurt to try that one

PS. I would love to see FL get a full fledged update, graphics as well as major mods to the gaming system itself, like adding in actual escort missions and such:)
In November 2005, Microsoft redeployed the developer's employees to its Microsoft Game Studios headquarters. Digital Anvil was officially dissolved on January 31, 2006.
