Well, i did a little testing on some of my char with only 10k this time, they all got the cash except for gneisenau, i think maybe its due to the fact that it is lvl 5? or maybe that the character had a recent name change about a week ago, even though it was deleted and remade.

Can you confirm the order of events...
1. Long time ago you had a char named XXX
2. XXX was renamed using the old method to gneisenau (or was it the new no NCC required method, or was it /renameme)
3. You deleted gneisenau
4. Created a new gneisenau
5. Tried to send the new gneisenau cash from a trader. Server ate the cash, gneisenau went hungry.

I don't think that I have this right - could you correct the sequence please.

Don't think this has anything to do with the level...suspect that it's something to do with the rename...even though the character was deleted and re-created.

Had gneisenuea renamed gneisenau on the forums with no NCC
stripped and deleted gneisenau to fit my RP story on forum.
Re-made character with same name gneisenau
/givecash gneisenau 30000000 from Peg_leg_lenny did not recieve
un-docked and re-logged char still did not recieve. Tried again with 1 million and still did not receive it

Tried /givecash to random player, they received it.

tried /givecash to my char lns-ohio /givecash lns-ohio 100000
he received it. sent back to Peg_leg_lenny received it

tried give cash to my level 37 bank char /givecash Big_brown_box 10000 did not receive
i had a supernova on the bank char, sold supernova to vender got 2 mil, did /givecash 2000000 pel_leg_lenny and i never received it.

I'm thinking this does have something to do with level, but I'm not sure, it just may be that there is some type of random glitch happening.


EDIT: On the characters that were on the receiving end. the server told me that i had received the said amount of credits but when i had checked in the ship log. it was not there

Take note of how much money your characters each have, write it down or something, then go onto Peg_leg_lenny and type in console (make sure you're using console and not system chat):

/givecash gneisenuea (your old character name) with like 10k credits or something as a test.

People who had character names done with the old method cant be invited to groups by their new character names, so something tells me that the server still thinks you're using your old name.

No offense ten, but i think that you clearly misunderstood what i had typed. You might want to read over it again.

EDIT: All of the transactions were made in system chat. So, whatever you're on about must make no difference where it is typed as i received some of the transactions.

I've done dozens of transfers already from 5mil to over 1billion and no problems.

When I've tried it, it works.

However, I think I'll stick to the old-fashioned method for big transfers. (No-offence Cannon, but I don't want to lose my money as I've got a big one coming up.)

since there is no option or feature that checks for money that has been subtracted and tracking the money. ( in case it is no where added, it would be added to the char that had hte money subtracted ) - the /givecash is a bit of a gamble now.

personal transfers are preferable - but also not safe. when you make a personal transfer and the one transfering for you receives the money - and the server crashes at that time - the money is lost, too, cause the one that got the money will respawn in the last station he was docked and rolled back. - there is no 100% method. - the safest thing one can do is...

give it to someone you trust - the one that got the money for the transfer docks asap to "backup" his char with the money.

then you switch and receive the cash and dock asap, too - to backup the char.

but i think when you have all new chars, the givecash command is fine.... its only messed up by old chars with or without old NCC change.

When I've tried it, it works.

However, I think I'll stick to the old-fashioned method for big transfers. (No-offence Cannon, but I don't want to lose my money as I've got a big one coming up.)

No offence taken...and I believe MoneyExpress will be quite happy to help you move the money in the mean time.

Right I've found one of problems. The character name is case sensitive...thought it wasn't and it shouldn't be. Here's the deal.

Create a character called Bob (note the capital)
From another character:
type /givecash Bob 100000 - it works, see message and get the money
type /givecash BOB 100000 - login as Bob, it'll print you received XXX credits but no money arrives
type /givecash bob 100000 - login as Bob, it'll print you received XXX credits but no money arrives
type /givecash bOB 100000 - login as Bob, it'll print you received XXX credits but no money arrives
...you get the idea.

Here's the kicker. If Bob is online when you do the transfer...no problem it'll work for all of the cases. This'll get fixed...but for now type your character name carefully.

EDIT:
It comes down to...a transfer to an offline char will go wrong unless:
- Either type the name with exactly the right capitalization
or...change characters by F1 switching to the "select a server" (and then select a character) screen rather than F1 switching straight to the "select a character" screen.

The upside is that its got nothing to do with the old name change->delete char->make new char thing. A char that is renamed then deleted and recreated will work just fine.
