If your use loopholes and shortcuts to win you are basically cheating and it's either because you HAVE to win all the time or because you know that in a fight with similar load-outs (which is not using fighter weapons) you'd lose.
The RP should dicate your weapon load-outs. All your corsair characters should only have corsair or civilian ships with corsair weapons on them.
The RM do this, I do this, most other people on the server do.
If your characters alignment means you can't buy weapons from a certain faction and you can't get them by looting, tough.

RP Wise would still indicate that I could use the Marsflyer weapons & the tizonas, the tizonas are Corsair weaponry, and the Marsfler side turrets are sold with a ship that is sold by the order. If you read infocards on ships like the Osiris, it plainly states that the order and corsairs did *alot* of joint operations together to combat the nomads, including the order helping the Corsairs to produce their own fleet of Osiris battleships. Clearly states an alliance between Corsairs & Order, not to mention the pirates saved the damn universe by forming the Order with government officials.

Marsflyer turrets a Loophole? What?
Marsflyer turrets a shortcut? You spend 40 Million and an hour doing the transfers and ship rebuys and tell me this is a shortcut.. it isn't by any means. Not only did I spend my time to get the money to purchase these weapons, but I took an hour of my time just to make the *PURCHASE*. Hell, even Korrd, an admin uses these weapons on his ship, and he is a Rheinlander.
And quite honestly these weapons don't give me much of an advantage except against fighters, and even then it's not even enough to warrant it because the advantage is purely being able to keep your power up when shooting at the little buggers.
The route of the problem which you "OMG CHEATER!" screamers are overlooking is the fact that the capital ship weaponry is *severely* lacking in the anti fighter department, (unless you use missiles, which are 100% useless in any kind of lag) then you think about a cruiser... cruisers are *designed* to go after capital ships, not fighters... yet their powersupply is so limited it's not even funny. With actual cruiser weaponry a cruiser can't even dream of taking on a battleship, unless it is a Huegenot with an extremely skilled pilot, but even then I doubt they can do it without aid unless the BS pilot is a complete moron or is using default weaponry. Hence why I have 6 tizona turrets mounted on my cruiser. Too much? You think it is unbalanced...??? Two Battleship Inferno cannons can take down a cruisers shields in less time than the 6 tizonas can take down the battleships ships if you can aim the damn things. it's only 5 or 6 shots from the Infernos to take a cruisers shields and just a few more for a battleship. The only difference between the two, is one doesn't take power, which makes it the only weapon a cruiser can equip that is decent for taking down capital ships, half the battle for a cruiser is getting through the enemies shields.
Now, if I was running around in an Osiris, with 8 tizonas and 4 Battle Razors, *THAT* would be a "Win at any cost" loadout. If you people keep screaming that it is unbalanced I'll do a loadout like that and come after you.

If you don't like the way most people do things here theres plenty of other servers using discovery mod now.
The whole point is that just because you can do something doesn't mean that you should, if you haven't learnt that yet then theres nothing more to talk about.

If what Marauder is saying does happen and only bs turrets are allowed acording to RP status, then that would mean we would have to work with the defult loadout. That way a gunboat wouldnt stand a chance against a VHF let alone a bomber. A cruiser would just be based on its forward gun and you would see alot of bretonian and liberty ones around. And a bs would not be worth it because those cruisers with a bomber could easily take the bs down.
thats what i think would happen if marauder's rules were made rules.
Edit: Most people dont do this RP bs thing like you do, they just cant be bothered to spend an hour of their life and 40 mil in the process upgrading their ship a tiny bit

Just to inform you people did the stripping of Marsflyers for turrets long time before he did. I did it myself for two sets of 16 (or was it 18?) turrets when the Battlestar Adv. had that number of turrets. One to give back the set that was given to me by Xerxas just on trust and I never asked for them (Thx Xerxas!), a quality which none of you has shown any proof of, and another set for my other battleship. The community was complaining about the turrets and it was agreed to drop the thing - everybody did that.
My point: don't talk about things that you don't know about, specially when you use the same words your friend has put into your head. (actually, this was for both)
Not the marsflyer turret is the only point here but generally - fighter turrets on a capital ship.
@Dark: IMHO, making the turrets stronger, making the ships stronger... same point where we are now... I see no reason to bother.

- tune anti-fighter Battleship weapons (flaks).
- sort another way to equip bombers so they can still act like ones.
Quick notes:
- right now, its OK to hunt fighters on capships with Missile Turrets but imho flak turrets could be improved.
- the idea of having an unmountable special weapon on bombers to drop down BS shields is good. I think it would not spoil the game.

It is a fact that each ship is different.
People should accept the fact that each one of them are also meant to have a different role.
This is not a RTS (real time strategy game). But if it was, you had to live with stock weapons.
There is coherence in the standard weapon loadout.
Some people can't be bothered to understand this because they want to feel almighty.
This is a role play game. You have plenty of liberty to equip your ship the way you want but it would be NICE if we just stick to logical things and sportsmanship.
Igiss keeps it simple.
I like to think it's because he has to prevent that much liberty to do whatever one wants to do in Freelancer from ruining the server.

I do agree that the battleships are pretty well rounded right now, but I personally believe that they either need to receive a boost in power (damage output) or their weapons capcitors need to be retuned greatly.
If it's just a weapons power revamp, and not damage ectera, then the battlerazors & Infernos need to be tweaked to take the same percentages of power they do now. (As not to give them the result of having no drain after a weapons tweak)
i agree with behemoth about the unmountable special weapons on bombers and the part about the stock weapons on bs. :D :)
I dont agree however that marsflyer guns have anything to do with sportsmanship because, if u take on a human bs in a fighter you are quite clearly :crazy: :crazy:
anyway (im sure ppl with a bs can sympathise with me here), im sure that we would all like to take down those annoying fighters faster because of them running into us and throwing us into an uncontrolled spin of some sort. :angry:
I HATE THAT SO MUCH and i always wonder if that could be changed in the next versoin of the game so bs still handle like they do but cant be messed up by fighters bashing into them. :(

Okay. lets settle this.
1) Marsflyer turrets on BS's were allowed, but a LARGE MAJORITY of us agreeed to keep those turrets off battleships cause they unbalanced the ships big time. Now they're no better than gunboat turrets, but their energy usage is what made them unbalanced still.
2) Tizonas. Bleh. Not going there. Nothing wrong with tizona turrets on a ship. but frankly, I dn't see the point.

HOWEVER... DO, Discovery 24/7 Freelancer has it's own set of Role Play rules. What you're doing is a slight bit different that what we've been role playing for a VERY LONG time. Becareful. Also, watch what you say. Leveling "threats" on the forums can get you in a crapload of trouble.
Guys, cool it. We've had this battleship discussion so many times it's not even remotely funny. Lets drop this and let Igiss make the decision. We have a thread for 4.81 ideas, and so far, Igiss is doing a great job to keep the mod balanced and within the original Freelancer universe. Arguing this, debating this to death is doing *NO* one a favor, except give most of us a headache.

Dark, Neo ... I've been playing here for eight months, and on the forums for seven of
them. What I like is the balance and sportsmanship, when it comes to not exploiting
loopholes in the ship loadouts. Thats why I stayed here. Good and fair community.
What I'm not too keen on is newcomers ... To the forums, not the game, coming in
and trying to change a well established and good working system.
