Sorry, but I don't feel that your argument about that holds water.
Why? There is no difference between firefly ships, star trek ships, star wars ships, babylon five ships, etc... in relation to freelancer. They are all imports.
What is it about firefly that makes it different from other imports, other than you like it? It doesn't look that freelancerish, the SW ships and bab 5 ships are just as good in that respect. It wasn't that popular, they barely eeked out a season. Why should firefly be included and others not, other than bias?
Because it is relatively unknown. BECAUSE it only aired for a single season, the vast majority of people don't even know it's an import. Hence, it can stay around longer as we work to replace the more recognizeable imports.

Wrong, it is fairly well known, it had a major movie. I know what it's from, you know what it's from, it screams import.
I'd be willing to bet that if we did a poll here on if thought the ship was original or came from a sci fi show the answer would be an overwhelming "we know".
The people who don't watch sci fi don't play freelancr.

Only because of your constant complaining about it.

No, because the fact is that most people that play freelancer know about firefly and serenity, because we are a high proportion of sci fi fans.
And that's simply how it is, sci fi game, sci fi fans.
Also I have not been constantly complaining about it, but I do take the stance that if imports are bad there shouldn't be an exception just because you like firefly.
That's just it though. I've never seen Firefly OR Serenity.

Right, I am all for removing it once the worse things are out. You're right, it doesn't look Bretonian. Then again the SW stuff doesn't look BHG. However, everyone knows SW, BSG, etc. HW stuff is absolutely hideous, as are the ST monstrosities. If you show a given import to some random person, they are far more likely to make choices based on its import-ness with those rather than the Firefly- which is decently obscure (although not totally, to be sure- there's a small but fair percentage that will recognize Serenity lore when they see it), and in passing not always immediately recognizable like a frikken Corvette. It hurts immersion less than they do because of that.
But you're right, it is an import. So if someone comes up with a neat concept to replace it with, they should do so. But if they are searching for ships to replace, there's worse stuff to scrub. Like, say, the Homeworld ships. See where I'm going with this?
I've only heard of Firefly because apparently the ship was copied from there. As such I watched a bit of it to see the original ship, in the 15 minutes of suckyness they never showed the outside of the ship. I gave up and turned over. The Firefly series is utter rubbish - the ship however is really nice - needs retexturing though. I think it should stay around for a bit longer. There are plenty of worse imports which need to be fixed first.
