I don't want this thing to work with ID... too limitative. Put it as a commodity if you want, that would be better.

But there is an issue with such system, How will an order recruit get to Toledo?

PS: Tennacity, the NY->Magellan gate is now NY->"something else,,, forgot the name again"

whilst I understand the idea, and find it nice. I don't think it would work in a "perfect way"... There is too much issues about it

But don't worry about non-sense routes. They are going to disappear:)So you can put an "X" on OORP traders/smugglers

Don't tie it in with an ID. Anyone with a roleplay reason to access the gate should be able to obtain a pass, weather it be through legit means or illicit means. For example Tenabaras (sp?), an order ship, would be given one by the LN or a smuggler could buy one off the black market to use for cardi and slave smuggling. Plus if there is someone who needs to get in only once they can group and form with someone who has access and follow him through. To me it allows for much more roleplay than leaving it as is.

By the way this is coming from someone who has no Liberty lawful characters.

This is an incredibly silly idea. You already have a bloody embargo on Z21, just learn to enforce it. There's plenty of monkeys running about in BH and LN capships, tell a few of them to plant themselves over the Alaska gate and shoot people without the approprate tag and ID. If you can't enforce your own RP Laws, don't try to make the server do it for you.

Also, why use alaska for cardi/slave smuggling... its quicker to go through texas, bering, hamburg, frankfurt, sigma 13, sigma 19, omicron beta and omicron alpha
(if you use ibiza base anyway)

for malta its 20 seconds more... and you avoid the dreaded nomads

I think Alaska should be locked to smugglers... and I am one

Its a route noone concerned about their ship would do... or could do because the gate is 'locked'

Pardon me,but I am one of the so-called "monkeys" that sits and guards that gate.

Personally I like the idea of codes AND a gate "shield" like the trade lanes.Between the two,that will stop the oorp travel into z21,and allow RP'ed zone access.

Too many times all of us lawful forces guarding the gate have been laughed at cause the trader (or intruder)speed docks with the gate on either side.

They dont care about the RP value of the gate,only that it is a short-cut to teh New York system from the Omicrons.

And some of you STILL think its an RP issue,well it is.

Its not our on our side though, its on the side of everybody that uses it for OORP reasons.
Traders,smugglers,you name it.

You know, I played D&D (1st edition) years ago. And I have played with people that if one of their chars knew something,ALL their chars knew that info. They didnt last long in our campaigns.Because thats not role-playing.....thats called Meta-gaming.

Think about it.

only JUMP GATES should be restricted through codes, and not jump holes because they're nature and cannot be manipulated. This would be a good idea, but i think we need GAURD missions, instead of getting the rep all these crazy ways...

Having guard missions defeats the object of the guard factions...

Anyways, building the codes into the Ids = great to me. LSF and Navy Guard ID get built in codes. Then, there are also the 'gate passes' that were talked about earlier, which would be sold in the Navy, LSF and Order guard systems (I can imagine the Order have hackers). I would include the Hackers, but I can't think why they would need to go to Alaska. Like Luscend said earlier, you could make them so they expire, with a six hour count-down (six hours in-game is a long time) which would represent Navy/LSF counter-hackers shutting down the 'gate pass' hacks, or changing the gate codes.

That would work, right?
