Nice theory, but it's just that - a theory with shaky basis in reality.
For one thing, you have decent evasion and "normal" size (don't keep looking just at the length). All in all, you have a pretty normal HF. The Greyhound is able to survive well enough.
You could avoid the whole litany and say just: "It's a HF with all the advantages and drawbacks. That's not good enough for the Rogues!" It would be pretty much the same thing (only more correct in the initial assessment).
' Wrote:The original 'problem' described about the Greyhound was it was too hard to hit [/b]and could 'spam' mini razors. Yet the changes to the Greyhound seem to reflect little about solving these so called problems. Reducing the shield may make it easier to kill, but certainly not easier to hit. Reducing evasion makes it easier to hit, and increasing turning speed is a nice balance to that.
With decreased evasion, the Greyhound is easier to hit than before, so returning it's shield class to 10 may help to absorb some of the damage in group combat, where the Greyhound is supposed to excel. Cargo space should be reduced, it doesn't need a large cargo hold due to the ship not being designed for piracy.
Now you are even disagreeing with yourself:
"It was too hard to kill"
"Lowering shield and dodging while increasing turning didn't change it"
=>
"Add the big shield on it again"
Ehh wouldn't that actually make it better than before?
Quote:As for the turret, if it comes down to one or the other then simply make the turret face backwards, while we did argue for the turret to be added in the first place we never would have done so if we knew how negatively the subsequent 'balances' would effect the Greyhound.
Read the previous greyhound thread. 99% of Rogues argue that it doesn't have enough firepower cause it has only 4 slots. When I and others say that it can mount 4 codes the responses are that "codes are too hard to hit with", "we want to use sammaels", "we want to be able to pick more different loadouts" etc.
Now that it got 5 lvl9s exactly the same arguements that me and others used before are turned against us and we are the bad guys again.
Pretty much sums up both of the threads.

I dunno, you tell me. I'm just throwing out suggestions. You said the point of the nerfs was to make the Greyhound easier to hit, and you lowered it's evasion. The level of it's shield has nothing to do with evasion, just how much damage it can soak up. So having nerfed the shield to me seems pointless. What was the point of that again?

We never asked to have the slots reduced to class 9s.
' Wrote:Make the Greyhound small again. It was something like a usable ship back in 4.84. You couldn't really kill anything in it, but it was fun to fly.
That's not really an option, if we shrink the model the cockpit will be too small for the pilot model. The ships are balanced to the model, rarely the other way around.
I hope some one makes the "hyena" the opposite of the libertator. Leave it with 3 guns but give it 2 mine droppers.
As for the Greyhound, best of luck in getting it changed. Seems like admins have taken affinity to liberty lawfuls and I expect them to make sure they have no challenge.
I've been flying the Greyhound a lot in Conn. fighting different people. The ship is actually worse than I anticipated... Fought everything from BHG bombers to Phantom Sabre's and scarey x6 codename Bastets.
You say the ship is supposed to work as fighter support for our heavier ships. Yet our heavier ships stand more of a chance in combat than the Greyhound. That just isn't right.
Sounds very much like you fought these people 1vs1, in that case you are destined to fail and yes heavy ships would do much better in that. Werewolf for example walks over Eagle in 1vs1.
Support means stuff like 3vs3.

No, even in a group fight it's failing pretty badly. Considering not getting hit is pretty much my fortay, particularly in group fights, it's not good that my hull is being stripped away faster than I can kill an opposing bomber.
