we could have first class, 2nd and third clas pods.
the 3rd class pods should have the words "Canned Food" on the side.
actualy -- i dont think its such a great idea -- if we were to have steady passenger routes, i would much prefer to see liners carrying the goods rather than freight trains.
' Wrote:Unfortunately we've only got luxury liners and prison liners in the game.
We need a middle of the line generic passenger liner.
Kusari liner and royal liner, to add. Luxury one and kusari one are "passanger" sized.
Royal is more of floating estate. And prison one is duh, prison.
I think that cargopods, as attractive as they are were refused because there is something tricky with setting them up. Because they arent actually part of the ship, but are rather flying in formation with ship.

Cargopods are implemented as shield generators (shields have a model). Basically, the cargo pods are shields with 0 regen and cap that are assigned the cargopod model (that has an HpConnect hardpoint). The shield (cargo) slots on the ship are assigned the HpCargo hardpoint.
It's quite easy to create noew pods, provided you model them at the same dimensions of vanilla ones, and assign the hardpoint correctly.
In this fashion, we can create other modifications (visual customization elements like spoilers, extra lights, wings, tanks etc) for any kind of ship, provided we set up the hardpoints and make sure the models fit together nicely. There was a proof-of-concept mod somewere that showed this
Good idea. The pods would have to have much higher armor of some sort so they can't get shot out in two hits... or else we'd have dead people floating all over...

I always liked the idea of having custom-made ships using the cargopod system like ferongr mentioned.
A purchased ship on a planet would only have the basic cockpit/engines, and you'd buy 'components' to customize the ship's appearance - different wings, body, etc.

not that we would hear anything in the vacuum of space.;)
