Instead of using the current ship as a base for the model, do something truely Outcast-ish?
It looks good so far but as the others said, lacks something.
Like I said, it's SIMPLIFIED. I already know how this baby's going to get it's 'flair', as it was put. The spoiler needs to be extended, and I have to add the trappings. I didn't even put in the windows, much less the inserts, gun mounts, fins, comm devices, and so on and so forth. This whole thing is probably going to end up running 19-2100 polys. The thing you see now is about 70, were I actually to make it.
And Yuri's finishing them. The Dread has priority, but we're hoping the BS will be done, too.

Too... cubical. looks like oversized thin matchbox someone stepped on. No love for crosses. Needs more personification.
And more, if you plan to post your ideas, and then whine because you get criticized, dont post them. Criticism is main stream to accept design.
Also do not go out headlong in design project only because you want it done "NAU" because "THEY AR STEALIN MAH BABY!" but desing when you get feel for it.
I'm not whining, bud, I'm defending my idea. If I were whining I'd be going 'THAT'S NOT FAAAAAAIR!'. Instead I'm providing a logical defense.
Also, it's not MY baby. It's the Outcast Destroyer, and Xing, quite frankly, does not fly one, is not an Outcast, and is not in touch with what the Outcast player base wants. As I would no longer attempt to create a credible replacement for the Corsair Dreadnought, I would expect others on the opposite side of the fence to do the same for us. I like Xing's work, but quite frankly I don't think he gets the Borderworlds line, judging by the way his last Sabre redesign came out:
You know, it might look cool, but really now, it's a porcupine, and that doesn't go well with the Outcast motif. It's too dark, too fanciful. That's not a Sabre Mk II-it's a Phantom ship. The Outcasts try to find beauty in minimalism, which is what I try to impart in my ships. The basic frame is a little uncomfortable on paper, but whence I put it into 3ds and come out with a finished draft I think people will warm up to it considerably. On top of that, I am responsible for literally every capship the Outcasts will fly in the next version except, at this point, the Destroyer. You have three ships of Eppy all in a nice little row, looking perfect, and then BAM! This wierd, out-of-step thing created on completely different design principals pops in. It's like watching a line of marines drilling with, say, Richard Simmons teaching aerobics in the middle of it (not that Xing's ships are to be equated with Richard Simmons, but you get my point). Xing is a great modeler, a lot more qualified than me in most other fields, but his style, design principles and experience are the wrong ones for the job. Mine, on the other hand, have built every other ship in the line. Therefore...
Oh, and get used to the crosses. All the other houses have their little flags-why shouldn't the Outcasts?
I've said this isn't a detailed model. Don't tell me about personification, I've already covered that base adequately, thank you very much.

Ships built by different people always look different. You can't have a shipline that has been made by one person, then another tries to add his own thing. No offence Xing, but if you made something, and tried to add it to Eppy's shipline, it would look out of place to almost everyone, even if you yourself can't tell the difference.
That being said...I'm not a fan of that Destroyer, as someone said before, it lacks flair, and seems to be a flat brick, instead of a flat triangular brick that is in the game right now.
By the way, That Sabre looks like something out of Robotech/Macross or even Gundam..

Sorry mate, let me say it differently then. You are defending your idea too agressively. Cut it out. If you wish that your own design is accepted, make something that will amaze us, and make us choose your work over what ever anyone else designs.
Second, you cannot, and should not ever bash others view or perspective. Also you cannot state "I am outcast, I know what my fella outcasts want" because that is unfounded statement, unless you have statistical data.
I think that there should be more insignia in freelancer, actually, I am sad there is no more of it than currenty. But I think crosses are bad motif, simply you may be christian(as i recall from some topic), but I, or someone else might not be and might find symbolics offending. Actually I think Red star on coalition ships is bad too(even if I do support some ideals in real life) for same reasons.
Personification not as "adding my ego" but as, defining characteristics on that blob of lead on paper you call sketch(lacks info to really be it)
If you are offended by my words, take it to private/skype.

Actually, the very fact that I'm an Outcast by trade and he is not puts me in tune with what Outcast pilots want more than he is. All he does is shoot at us. I have long discussions with the ruling council on my aesthetics and what we as a community want in a ship, and here it is: they want a more suitable Outcast look in a ship with similar handling characteristics as the Hiigaran Battlecruiser. I am providing that.
Out of sheer curiosity, though, I think I'll make a poll and see.

...it's just a symbol, mate. There's a cross on the Rheinland insignia. The Libertonian flag is rather blatantly the Stars and Stripes, but you've never seen a prominent Ex-Soviet come onto the forums ranting about that being offensive. Our home planet's name is Malta, for crying out loud. Beyond that, the crosses are already on different models that are well past the development phase, so they're going to be in the mod and essentially Discovery-Canonized regardless of this model.

And by that vein, 'Cut it out' is too aggressively telling me to stop defending my idea aggressively. Say what you mean. I'm not flaming or bashing Xing, I'm presenting and supporting a logical opinion about why I think he isn't the best person to redesign the Outcast Destroyer. We don't live in a world made out of soft padding. Egos get hurt. I'm not trying to hurt Xing's feelings or insult his reputation, I'm simply defending and presenting a viewpoint. When I start telling him his models suck THEN I'm attacking him. I like most of his work, but I don't think it's going to mesh very well with the Borderworlds line.
Oh, and I'm not going to try and sell my ship to Corsairs. The only people I need please are Outcasts and Igiss.
