Order Gunboat

now - we DID have an order gunboat.... but Legenation went missing before actual and immediete work on 4.85 started. Hence we do not have the model anymore but only a few pictures of it. - its almost certain that he won t show up again... so the order is left with no new gunboat ( which i personally consider more important than the whole lot of large capital ships they get )

so - while its already very late - there might still be time.

the concept behind this model is as follows:

the zoners are introducing their new, civilian class gunboat - with tuned down power and offensive qualities. - they have made lots of compromises in their official gunboat design to make it a defensive mini transport able to function as a highest security transport in the most dangerous borderworlds.

but the design itself would allow a much more military variant of the ship, too. - so they are also producing a gunboat for their close allies, the order - exclusivly for the order (!). while zoners themselves might also be "allowed" to fly it of course... they would not want to, cause where s the point... .

the order variant concept looks encorporates a more powerful reactor, more weapons, less cargospace, less armour. basicly it makes use of the space that the zoner gunboat uses as additional cargospace.

so much about the concept alone.....

now - this concept is NOT genuine order. - it is indeed a zoner design, developed and build by the zoners ... but for the order alone. to safe developement costs, it is vaguely similar to the zoner GB in shape, but is more advanced.



my ideas about the stats would look like that:

1 GB forward gun
6 turrets facing forward ( 2 of them able to spin backwards )

it would be on the "larger side" of gunboats ( similar to the zoner gb from which its derived from ) - it would share its good agility, and the same powercore ( thats a matter of balance ... either the same, or a smaller one ) - it would have less armour ( maybe 85k ) and a default cargospace to equip capital ship armour if needed.

i m up for critizism etc. but it should come quick - so that ... IF we decide to include an order GB... its gonne be finished asap.

As a gift design to the order, it looks great. I'd argue against letting zoner pilots fly it, while saying that the Zoners did design it, but gave the designs to order, never manufacturing it themselves

I don't know, but there does seem something very Egyptian about it, or perhaps influenced by stargate...

While not a member of the Order (quite the opposite) the model is quite good and would be interested in seeing it textured.

It looks a bit too advanced and unlibertyish to me. Whilst it does look awesome - and I know its made by zoners... it doesn't fit with the style of the order, which take the Liberty ships and make advanced versions.

Not that I have seen or experienced being part of the order, but this seems a bit too advanced for freelancer.

model is good - though, its a bit hard for me to say how it fits in with the rest of the Order' series. You made a good job at continuity with the carrier and destroyer, but gunboat... I dont know.
As its been mentionned, yes, there is something egyptian (I see a scarab I'd think, dont ask me how).

Beautiful design, but I question whether the Order would import a ship from the Zoners, rather than designing and building it themselves. It's very obviously a Zoner design given the shape of the front of the ship.

Unseelie's idea seems to fit well though.
