I just dislike the fact that it is essential to mount a MK 8 armor upgrade in order to PvP...I mean, what's the point in having 8 different classes of fighter armor if only one will be used? Makes the other 7 rather redundant, no?

I use MK7 armour all the time. It's around 5 million credits cheaper, and isn't much of a downgrade from the "best".

Well, you aren't the only one using a fighter here. I have like 2 or 3 bombers among my 30 or somewhat characters. VHF jock ftw.

In any case, I kinda like things the way they are now. No idea, really, perhaps I'm scared of change and all the balancing issues that come along.

Then again, I solo'ed a Falcata in my Liberator, so, meh.:P

EDIT: I never use missiles, or MiniRazors, by the way.:lol:

I own two bombers. One [RM], and one Phantom. Snubnose and Taiidan, respectively.

I've been mildly miffed by one-shot weapons since their implementation, oh so long ago. I remember the days when fights were a matter of who could aim better, rather than who could aim a single shot.

By the way:
Liberator = Best LF
Falcata = Average

Its not impossible to beat bombers in fighters (I've done it plenty of times), but I think my problem is reliance on one-hit-kill weapons now-a-days. For now, instead of arguing the point, I'll wait for the new mod, see what it's like, then make my judgments. Just gonna hope.

This is something I hadn't thought about... if the various armors aren't prohibitively expensive like cap armor is, there isn't much of a point to having multiple types of them, is there? While there are a few exceptions (like people getting rich through missions their first time up) almost everyone can afford Mk VIII armor for all of their fighters and bombers. My thought is to either make fighter armor seriously expensive like cap armor (well not that crazy expensive, but something serious) or to have less versions of it.

Get rid of it completely, just modify all the fighter armors to basically include a class 8 armor upgrade. Since everyone needs them to be competitive (or a class 7, but near the best), why make people buy them separately? It really doesn't make sense to me... There's no drawback to using them, there are no options out there to use instead of an armor upgrade, and they're cheap enough that anyone with a trader can afford them with use... And they're necessary for anyone who get into combat. What's the point of making them purchasable 'upgrades' rather than just increasing all the various ship armors by x2.5?

I also propose that the bombers' hull should be
less than (their current hull X 2.5). If armor upgrades are to be removed and hulls bolstered, the fighters should indeed be doubled, and the bombers should be multiplied by some number less that 2.0 because their already stronger hull will only get even stronger, therefore prolonging their longevity versus fighters.

However, I will say again that we should wait for the next version before suggesting more things. This problem may have already been solved... Or something.

Ok you're right. Waiting for next version, let's see what happens. Nothing can be changed atm anyways. Hope "they" get it right:).

Even so, what benefit does a Mk 2, 3, 4, etc have? If you are mounting them, chances are your level will be under 30, and you will not be pvping anyway. They don't give that great a boost against NPCs, where a class 10 VHF shield will cover you from damadge anyway, and for about 10% the price.

Oh, and I believe someone mentioned armour taking the shield slot? Well, without a shield, you are a hell of a lot more vulnerable...every hit shakes your screen, components can be shot off really easily (no matter how much you boost the armour multiplier, component HPs are not affected (well, not at present, I believe)), and you will generally be useless in a fight. Plus, of course, hull does not regenerate automatically, like shields do. I think, if you were to do this, you may as well completely remove armour upgrades, as no one would use them.
