i revised the design ( well - again ) ... while the wing design of the former version was OK - the basic idea of the gunboat wasn t really the way i wanted it to be. - this version is closer to the zoner gunboat - but should have a much much more sophisticated and more military look.

to support that - it now has 3 engines, instead of the single engine of the zoner version. it has 4 reactor chambers instead of 2 and should look sleeker.

the bridge ( which is the only part the crew can operate in ) is smaller than the zoner gunboat and lacks the side shield platings. - the "wings" are a bit more massive ( due to the additional engines )

the whole gunboat should be a bit smaller than the zoner version ( the zoner gunboat is pretty large ) - but about the same agility ( it should still be one of the larger gunboats that suffers from being a very large target from above and below )

here is an image of the zoner GB again to compare the shapes...

reason for the third revision is that i was simply unhappy with the bridge section of the former model. - it lacked inspiration and style. ( and the modelling of the front winglets was pretty badly done )

Looks unique and promising to add depth. I like the slight arch type feeling it is likely to have.

Great work as always, Jinx. I like the sound of how it's shaping up. One thing, though. Why does it use the civ textures? I'd think that a gunboat produced by/for the Order would use hull plating similar to the rest of their shipline.

ahh - the one below ( the textured one ) is the zoner gunboat....

the ( yet ) untextured one is the order gunboat - and i ll make it stained silver / black - so it will most certainly not be messed up with the zoner gunboat from afar.

I'm still unconvinced that the same people who designed and constructed their own carrier would rely on Zoner derived designs for something as small as a gunboat.

I think not! Order exclusive!

And that ship does look extremely cool. I especially like the extra detailing around the center engine.

@Turkish:

dunno - made up reasons. - fortifying relationships between allies. economical reasons. - modifying a design is cheaper and less work than developing their own. - on any account - the order has really "developed" very few ships.

the anubis is a modification ( but almost a stand alone order design ) - the bomber will be their very own design. the carrier will be nothing but a modified osiris. - the destroyer will be their own design ( and supposed to be about as rare as a snowball in the desert )

concerning their "own" designs - the order isn t really blessed very much. they got the know how - and probably the resources ( with some huge shipyard in 100 ) - but if an ally has a new warship produced that is "tuned down for civilian purposes" - it would be a shame not to receive a tuned up version for them.

but those things are just made up. ( except that it might be a bit boring for the order players to have osiris shapes from a gunboat up to a battleship )

Jinx, you've just made me a very happy person:)

The only thing I would change is maybe widen the bridge? Not sure if that's possible with those reaction chambers, but other than that it looks very sleek and awsome. Great job.

sure - i ll make the bridge a little bigger ( gotto do it anyway - or it would "look" larger than a destroyer ) - gonne widen it by 20%
