Jim had been one of the lucky ones. The wall section that had slammed into him had broken up, with some chunks filling in the largest holes. At least he wouldn't asphyxiate.
He coughed from the dust, and when he pulled his hand away, it was smeared with blood.
Not a good sign. If only those rescue crewmen would move faster...But no, it was useless to think about it. Just made his heart race faster; pumping more of his blood onto the floor. At least at this rate someone would find him. If only by the leaking blood from under a heap of rubble.
Jim wished he'd listened to Marx and lost some weight. Looked like he was going to be loosing it all, soon enough. A grim smile flitted across his face as he pondered this.
Someone knew, and someone was willing to kill almost 150 other people to get rid of him...

Karl Agathon sat contemplating the Chief's words. They had a certain truth to it, and the otherwise un-motivating chief did manage to pull off a motivating speech.
Karl almost... almost felt sorry for whoever did this, they would pay, and he would most like to be there and ensure they got what they deserved.
*he looked over the officers in the room, they were all busily running about, each with some purpose*
"Alright, guys, lets go find the bastards who did this!" He got up and walked up to a group of the higher ranked officers discussing investigations.
Iâll carry this flag
To the grave if I must
Because itâs flag that I love
And a flag that I trust
If you have travel plans, make additional time. Security has been bumped up by the LPI in every station and port they police. Wait times are much longer, but the grumbles are mostly silent as the recent bombing is still fresh in everyone's mind. Chief of Police Matthew Myers was quoted as saying that "a recurring attack isn't to be ruled out."
In other news, Fort Bush has been shut down to all non-LPI traffic until further notice. LPI-owned repair ships are currently assessing damage, no word on the cost of repairs. We'll keep you updated as events unfold.
Alerted to presence of a survivor of the blast; moved with all haste to Fort Bush to find the Folsom and Jack Bauer hanging in space near a shattered window.
Inquiry revealed that this was the former window of Deputy Chief Jim Markey.
We located a suitable spot and burned in.
Deputy Markey required Level-1 Trauma care and a five-unit blood transfusion. We do not carry the supplies needed for this, so we transferred Markey to the LNS-Ohio for immediate treatment.
Markey is currently in critical condition onboard the Ohio.

*Claps hands*
"Greetings all you law abiding citizens and...ah LPI, LN, and LSF...and yes possibly the Order....I am here, to send my condolences to the 2 civilians that died in the "Terrorist Attack" they shouldn't have been there....I am also here to tell you that this will not end until my demands are met. I know its just a disturbing way to make a living but hell someone got to make money right? RIGHT? ahahaha and why not put a little spin ah ACTION into it?"
*Walks closer to the camera*
"You know what I find so funny about how, SUCH A GRAND FORTRESS was penetrated by little oi me? I mean ya all got the technology, to scan and to ID ships wha wha what was soo different and exclusive about my dear ship? I can't really think of anything, hmm nope my ship has no new stealth device or even hide the contents in my hold. WELL WHY TODD, HOW DID YOU DO IT? Well kiddies its called BRIBERY ahaha I told you Liberty to trust no one. I've even sent the prez boy a message explaining the harsh facts about life *cough* he wasn't impressed. And I'm not impressed with him not making a speech shows how much he cares. OH WELL,"
*Spins around*
"Liberty Liberty LIBERTY such an ironic name for us don't you think? Oh sorry back to the 147 dead pigs and the 2 civilians. What do you think was going to happen LPI? You're all happy with your laws and rules that you've become lazy. I looked what happened, you have only yourself to blame. See see I was your gun and YOU pulled the trigger so don't ever judge me. I did it to teach you all never to be naive about your surroundings, you should have paid attention when my mother.....ah ha...when YOU failed to protect LPI WHEN YOU FAILED AT YOUR DUTIES BECAUSE OF YOUR JUDGING. But I guess that's life, black and white, In or out, Rich or "Commonwealth. Living and the dead. Fairness is God flipping a coin 50/50 chance. Sometimes he drops the coin and something like me happens, where I alter the "RULES" I upset the established order...."
*tilts head to the side*
"The shroud of darkness is coming Liberty the God of Fear is hungry and the fields are ripe for the picking. All of you will regret ever judging me, ALL OF YOU WILL SUFFER UNDER MY BLACK HAND OF DEATH. I am only the flash in the pan though, what comes after me is much much worse something even gods will fear."
"My next attack will be soon enough, IF I don't get the following
-50million unmarked untraceable Sirus Credits
-Wilmot Rathers to contact me.
Its that simple LPI if I get what I want I will stop my operations, well SO long Liberty."
Matt Myers watched the transmission cut to darkness, face impassive, as his lead detective Frank Quinn stood next to him. All was quiet for a minute, then Frank said, "I doubt he did it. Really doubt it."
"Got any particular reason, or is that just your gut?"
"The ship. Stinger. May be classed as Civilian, but they only make 'em in Kusari. A Xeno'd sooner cut off his right hand than fly - or even use - one. Hell, I doubt they could even get their hands on one."
"So we can just about rule out the Xenos?" Myers ask, and received a nod in reply. "I'm gonna get some boys together and start an investigation soon. I need to go make some calls."
Somewhere in the Badlands, Cockpit of Fred Hamilton's Liberator.
Fred Hamilton jolted up right in his cockpit. "Life Support systems restored." Hamilton was odd for the LPI. He was almost too dedicated for the job. It was rumoured he actually patrolled in his off-shifts.
"... What? The hell am I doin' out in the Badlands? Did I black out? Computer! Set route to Manhattan, and while yer at it, give me a systems analysis!"
"Power: 8%. Reccomend returning to presence of solar object to replenish batterys. Oxygen: 12%. Traces of Carbon Monoxide detected. Attempt to purge from circulatory systems believed successful. Reccomend returning to planetary orbit to replenish oxygen supplies. Emergency batteries/oxygen tanks have been consumed." quoted the computer robotically.
"Carbon monoxide..." he thought, "Oi! That's toxic! I've been sabotaged! Computer! Soon as we're back in broadcast range, bring up communications. I'm gonna tell Chief 'bout this!"
"Confirmed. ETA: 30 seconds."
Fred Hamilton lay back to catch some sleep. Whilst the life support systems were top of the line, rivaling even that of a military condition, they'd skimped a little on navigations. It'd be closer to two hours.
Just Outside Badlands, Cockpit of Fred Hamilton's Liberator
Fred looked upon the Comms HUD with shock and horror. "147 dead? Are they sure? Can anyone else count that high? Nevermind that, Computer! Zoom in on that guy, the one missing two limbs and half his face. Oi! Just as I thought! That little bugger owes me money!"
Fred rubbed his face with his palm. Who would do such a thing? Sure, they'd annoyed a few people, but they'd never harmed an innocent. On purpose, anyway.
"Right! Computer, set course for civilization! The Chief's going to be needin' me help to get through this."
"Civilization: Define?"
"Errr... Fort Bush?"
"Negative. Fort Bush cannot be located."
"Oh... Right... The Leavenworth then."
"Confirmed. Plotting course. ETA: 13 seconds."
Fred lay back once more to wait it out, and began to think.
Aki was relieved to discover that it wasnt Order pilots who were responsible for the bombing, not that Liberty would believe it, but at least it cleared her conscience. The Order had enough to deal with, without having more terrorist-hanging lunatics coming after them out here. Every time the populace of Liberty got riled up about something, and blame was put on The Order, a new wave of vigilantes - civilians with guns bigger than they should be able to legally purchase - found their way out to Omicron space and started shooting up everything that moved. Usually they ended up getting killed by Corsairs who actually had combat training.
Her request for information from The Order's agents in Liberty was taking longer than expected, perhaps something was wrong...
