Since the topic of "Server logs" comes up...

IONCROSS only logs specific things, not who logged in and what.

The server itself loggs remote desktop access, and nothing more.  To log mouse clicks would make it that much more difficult to hunt down crap.  I only log ACTIVE connections (TCP streams) not mouse/button movements.

And no, i will not post those logs in public view.  That goes against my own policies regarding security.  And if anyone wants to try to get those records, You can try and have a court subponea me for them (And i guarantee you that you won't be able to.)

See Wolf that right there is the main point of what ticked me off about the incident with Angel. You lead me to believe that you were able to log everything.. I dunno I was just pissed off.

I've had a little time to cool down and think about things that people have said here. And I agree with a lot of the content, and also disagree with a lot of the content.

However, I must admit I was wrong in the method I went through with this, and I apologize for that. However I do not apologize for being persistent in the pursuit of making sure people are not cheating.

Yes you and Nightfall went through and tested the Cylon raider, and you tested the Heavy Mortars in the past incident, but in both of those incidents I received from you "I can't do it so they aren't cheating." and it is very disturbing to me, and as I obviously already know, brought down my faith in your ability to investigate a matter like this.

As for the most recent incident, complaints were made about the quality of my video recording, and unfortunately before I had the chance to upload a video of sufficient quality (regardless of size) the verdict was already made, based on a choppy video. And choppy, low quality videos mean that there is no real way to gather truth from it. This upset me and sent me flying off the handle.

This really all started when I tried to talk to you and you went defensive. (No, I am not blaming my actions on you Wolfpack, I had complete control of them.) And due to the fact that you are not open to any comments or ideas while on the defensive.. Well, here we are.

So as for the way I handled this, you have my apology Wolfpack. However, for my views on this matter, there is no apology. I should have been persistent and kept drilling you with my input before publicly posting the video. That was my mistake.

Now, as for all the stress put on you Wolfpack, from the community as a whole. I have deduced that this stems from that fact that you are the only administrator on this server who actually has a method to contact other than forum private messages. You are the only one who has been willing to share your instant messenger (or at least one of them) to those in the community. Therefore that, unfortunately, makes you the number one contact for everyone on the server. A remedy for this would be for the other admins to have some sort of alternate means to contact them. Regardless if it's a bogus instant messenger account they set up strictly for the purpose of Discovery.

Look at me I'm on a rant again. This is so fun. :wacko:

Forgot to add in, Wolfpack; I do not want to see you retire as an administrator on this server. Because without you.. I must say this server is quite literally doomed.

As for Kane, I personally believe he should be made, if he accepts, a server Moderator. The Go-To for people on the server, a liason between the administrators and the players. But that is just my two cents and it also depends on him being ready and willing to take on the responsibility.

Well, Dark Oddity, I hope that you come on back, and that Wolf comes back as an admin, as long as it is your guys' decision, and not extreme pressure from the community.

Same thing with Kane, if he does not want to be an admin, then he could at least be a moderator. Kane, you'd make a great one, and if you choose to accept it, then I'll put my faith in you.

We go from a post about DO saying the way he handled this was wrong, to Tank Target flaming him. Maybe now everyone realizes why people get pissed off.. STOP FLAMING.

Tanktarget, that whole post of yours was COMPLETELY uncalled for, and out of line.

He had a perfectly calm post stating his reasons, and why he got mad. You came on as the complete antithesis of that and started the flaming up again. I'm tempted to ask a mod to delete your post, as it isn't helping AT ALL. Its doing the exact opposite to come on here and flame people just for posting.

At this moment I wish I WAS an admin, as your post would be gone immediately in a hope to stop any potential flames that are surely to happen now.

This is one of the rare times where I agree with Dab. In fact, I'll take it a step further;

It takes two people to have an argument. I am guilty of this as well, mind you, but if one just ignores what is being said, then eventually the annoyance will go away. For example, I am just about to put Josh on my ignore list, and I will never have to deal with him again! See? How easy is that?

For the record, the only person I have on my ignore list currently is that Falixx guy. I'm sure you all know about him. Ugh... Still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

As for moderator... I thank you for your support. I would say more, but it would start to sound like I'm campaigning and this is the wrong place for that. Thus, I will leave it at "Thanks for the kind words."

However, I needed Korrd to look at the video HIMSELF so we can make a uniformed decision. I don't make these decisions by myself all the time.

Guys, I have an idea and a question!

OK, this may sound stupid, but assuming wolf steps down, who is going to run the discovery server?

Ok now for an idea: Wolf does not HAVE to be involved in the community in any way to run the server. If he wants to, he could possibly act as the admin but NOT act as part of the greater community. He could simply maintain the server and let the other moderators handle the content. The other modertors would then report techincal problems to him. That way he would not get flooded with all the other stuff.

I should admit that I was busy with real life issues and modding and didn't even notice this thread before now.

First of all, it's really disappointing to see Wolfpack go. He saved the server back when I became unable to host it, and was keeping it up for many months. I cannot host the server myself now; I've got nowhere to host the server, cannot pay hosting costs (I'm studying and got no full-time job), and since I live in Russia, I cannot even accept donations via PayPal and most other means accessible for Europe and U.S.

Therefore, if Wolfpack won't host the server anymore, I'd feel like my hands being cut away for I cannot replace him, and highly doubt anyone else could. Basically, this would be the end of Discovery Freelancer 24/7.

So I hope that Wolf will still be hosting the hardware. As for administration... well, I admit he's done much more than any other admins in-game. But at least we could theoretically do the job if the server PC itself is running.

Regarding all this DO/Dab issue... I don't know every detail of this, but should say that there are disagreements in every community. You might disagree with things that Wolfpack or me do, but since we are admins we must act for the benefit of the whole server or forums, not only you. We might make mistakes, we are not gods but people, and mistakes need to be corrected. But don't consider mistakes everything that you personally don't like. I admit that Wolfpack sometimes takes all those Dab-related things too seriously. But he has full rights to, cause he's done more for this server than anyone else.

So power-hungry, eh? It's moderators' job to delete posts. If you want to be an admin so much, go start your own server. If not, play according to our rules. I'm most sure this server has one of the best admin teams of all FL servers, if not the best. Or at least had before Wolf resigned. You just abused the fact that he did not ignore you, and did not ignore anyone here.

2Wolfpack: I seriously hope that you'll change your decision. I'd rather ban those two guys from everywhere if they will ever say anything wrong to you again, than see you leave. That is, if I had to choose (don't want to ban anyone of course).

But real life is more important. If you have to, you have to.

I may not play here anymore (well hardly at all) but when I first joined all I can remember is how everyone seemed to get along and generaly just have fun like you should in a game.

I do not know what this whole Dab/DO thing is/was about and I don't think I want to but if it has got to a state where wolf feels he needs to step down as an admin then I think you should all just stop posting and take a look at what you have done here.

I'm reluctant to post in this flame fest... but since my name was mentioned and Alpha, who was there for the 'Angel cheating' test also isn't saying anything (there was another AW Osiris but I don't remember the name), anyway...

The end result was, I quote: 'inconclusive' I don't remember the exact words, but it was proven that 4 Heavy Mortars are impossible to fire one after another (not that we didn't know that).

I just want to confirm Wolf's words.

On the other hand, for the accusations that the admins are not doing their jobs - DO, remember when you came here? Tizona turrets on the Osiris and all that stuff... Was I screaming 'ban him' or 'the admins are not doing their duties'? No, I just pointed out the problem, I didn't scream 'ban DO for being better than me'. You also tend to overreact on things, remember? This is one of those cases... and... can I remind you to read your own letter of apology to the Discovery community in which you state some things that are slightly distorted at least by the look of things happening now and also, happening immediately after that letter was posted... and so on, I don't want to add to the flames.

All we got here seems to be much of a failure to communicate. Just look at the majority of posts in this thread for an immediate example. People are not reading each other's words much.

@Dab, anything you say here has logic, but not wisdom and is not doing anything than to make this go further, but well, you feel the need to say something, no matter what the consequences. I'd like to make you and DO admins of a server and see how long you'd last, how would you run it and how much respect from the community would you get.

... and so on, I could go for hours typing like this, but I want to go play Freelancer this Sunday evening and have some fun. Basically, as I said, you would both piss off any admin with your impatience in communication and the perseverence to prove that you're right even if you're not (not referring to this, I mean other situations too), -- failure to communicate. Learn some patience and humility.
