the cylon faction will fail (!) since its obvious to everyone that the whole of sirius consists of nothing but cylons! I mean, seriously, did you ever see an escape pod?:P
I was originally going to have some great RP considering the state concerning my supposedly dead parents, but sadly my connection went poof before I had the chance to start.

true.. in situation when we all are cylons is faction "cylons" a bit pointless:laugh::laugh:
I suppose it depends. It's hard to not have dead parents if the character is old.
But having some tragic parental death is a good way to go. My Gaian's mother was tragically killed several years ago. Though variety is good, as another character is actually his father and thus his wife was tragically killed several years ago.
Of course, another character's parents were tragically killed, but they're also the children of another character of mine, so does that count?

My one IMG's wife was killed (see above), but I wonder if there's a difference in perspective between this and the parent thing. For one, if it's parents that are dead, the character could be much younger and thus prone to more chaotic, irresponsible behavior afterward. Claude dealt with it by living in near seclusion and mining niobium - not quite exciting material, you know?
Folks, stop killing the parents.
Instead use the new end all reason:

Many of them are still bound to their parents pretty strong, thus having their parents dead is used as the strongest motivation factor for their chars. (vengeance, becoming sociopaths, getting recruited by pirates, joining the military etc.etc.)
I rarely see anyone getting her husband or his wife killed ...
Did it when I first joined/rping

*goes and starts writing some RP about a dead spouse*
Meh, most of my characters have parents.
My junker's parents are dead but most of the other ones are alive,
though they dont get mentioned much:P
