And by the way, yes the wiki is still alive, we've just been slowed because we are playing the game too. Anyone who wants to help out should, we will heart you too.
Okie Dokie, all the new commodities are up on the wiki if anyone is curious, there are a few weird ones that sorry listed in one of his sheets that aren't in the mod, so I am going to ask about them.
I've added a small, but useful template to the Disco wiki - people who regularly use other Wikis will probably already know it: {{Stub}}. If you see any article that looks unfinished, feel free to add this little template to the top of the article.
I'll have a look at all bomber articles, if not edited yet. Can anyone link me to some wiki tutorial? I searched the forums but couldn't yield anything in that way.
EDIT: Yes, I'd love to get in touch with some experts here, so can you please get me to the Wiki channel? Skype's i_m_rdy
EDIT MkII: But then again, shouldn't we wait for 4.85 to get finished? There might be some ship stats changed until then.
I will be working on updating ships and their descriptions, mainly ships that have been changed since 4.84. Afterwards I will look into updating the ID's.
@tazuras: you can invite me to the wiki skype chat, That way i wont be working on anything that other people is already. Skype name is in my profile
For anyone working on new things for the wiki, the thinking amongst us in the wiki Skype chat is that we will keep dead-specific information largely out of it. Sale locations of ships, for example, will not be any more specific than system names.
Leaving specific information out of the wiki reduces it's usefulness as an encyclopedic resource, therefore we plan to provide information that is lacking through flavor text written in-character. This could be anything, a corporate memo or a dialogue, for example. This flavor text would serve a purpose similar to the in-game rumors, providing information in a way more natural to the roleplay nature of Discovery.
In my opinion, we should do something similar for ship and equipment specifications. I think it would be important to include certain details, but as far as ships are concerned at least, it is likely more important for users of the wiki to be able to find the infocard, flavor text, and perhaps some notes by people with experience (such as the Handling section on some ship pages). This will give the user good information, enough to decide whether the ship is for him, I feel, since such decisions truly should be made from an RP stand-point rather than on hard specifications.
Some people might want to ue the wiki to look up specific information about ships, and legitimately so. For those people, removing such information greatly decreases the usefulness of the wiki. The question then is, where do we draw the line?
