As such I was thinking such a scheme that would bring a smile to our fellow player's lips.
How about if we have RP fun and good times with someone that we send 100k to the player with the message.
After an encounter if I have enjoyed my encounter with the other I player I usually have short PM with him with the mutual back clapping and all that. But receiving money is ALWAYS fun too, so I think I'll start rewarding those people in-game too as a bonus.
For most of us 100k is peanuts and I, for one, gladly will fork out 100k for anyone who's willing to have good RP with me.
This is an idea to promote RP and concretely show the appreciation. Think it of as areward
For those who don't know how to do this:
/givecash playerName 100000
/pm playerName Thank you for the nice RP I had with you. Keep it up!
Already, when I'm on my trader, I'll sling out extra credits for good RP from a pirate/escort. If the Pirate asks 2 mil, but makes it a fun encounter, I'll often send him 2.5mil and a thank you card. Same generally goes for escorts. You really make a newbies day when he makes his first mil and a half on an easy milk run with a trader.
Even my pirate character sometimes sends back a portion of the credits in exchange for excellent RP.
This is sorta of an RP server, If this was a REAL RP server, then every ship and weapon would be 0$ so we all could get the ships we RP best in, without having to grind your time away trading.
I've had some unforseen freetime this past weekend & have been flying around, slowly beginning to rebuild from square one...I could call in some markers & have more than enough cash to pick up where I left off, but I thought it would be best to try to re-experience what it's like to work up from nothin'...Anyway, a couple days ago, I received an unsolicited gift of 100k from someone & it made me crack a smile.
True, 100k is peanuts & I almost sent it back with a big thank you, but when I thought about it, I was impressed that the guy had no idea who I was, & it was given simply in the spirit of giving with nothing expected in return...and it was large enough to be helpful, but small enough to not interfere with my goal of making things hard for myself.
I've spent months listening to people complain on the forums about all the bad things that happen on the server & in the past few days, I'm happily surprised that I've seen far more good than bad.
I think this sort of thing should be wholeheartedly supported & encouraged
