How bout we just give everyone the bloody upgrade from the beginning so no one has to waste time trading for the millions of credits required to get the armor upgrades that are pretty much essential for any kind of PvP? It costs more to buy the mark viii fighter armor upgrade than to outfit the vhf itself... theres just something wrong with that.

That will be adressed, you'll get more upgrade for lower price, thou top upgrade will still cost you the same... say imagine paying 2 mil for 2.1x wich is plenty enough to be competitive...

Anything lower than Mark 8 on a VHF is an unnecessary risk, it is part of pretty much ANY fighter loadout.
I think the price should be lowered to make a combat-ready fighter with a STANDARD loadout including mark 8 armor more accessible and appealing to players.
A price premium is fair enough, but forcing pilots to pay over 15 million credits for something as common as the Enhanced Thruster is unacceptable.
agreed. pratically EVERY fighter has an armor 8 mounted. It`s a standard piece of kit, but one that costs 15 mil. that`s a bit steep for something that is as common (and needed) as a thruster and a lvl 10 shield.
So instead of forcing every fighter to mount an armor upgrade in order to have a chance surviving, why not revise the weapons that are the cause of this ? Namely Mini Razor, SN, torpedoes.
These weapons shouldn't be used on fighters and against fighters effectively if at all, in my opinion. We have bombers to carry and use them.
Stripping the fighters from their torpedo slot (Cd only) ->
No need for armor upgrades, as there are no weapons that can kill you without the armor upgrade in one shot once your shields are down ina fighter vs fighter scenario->
Without the upgrade the bomber's armor is manageable with normal guns, mines and missiles. Against the SNAC the upgrade is worthless anyways ->
Bombers couldn't laugh into the face of the fighters trying to down them with guns anymore, and their agility is justified because they don't have exorbitant armor values ->
The MR + SNAC combo would still melt faces as it does now. It may be a bit radical, but strip the gun slots from the bombers in return?

Then 1 or 2 hits from a cap turret still whacks a fighter instantly. the armor upgrade should just be built in the ship as stanard. or boost the standard stats to armor VIII stats.

The fighters are dying to caps quickly even with the armor upgrade if they aren't dodging, but then again they were not made to battle capships, or it is just me oblivious to this feature of the fighters.

true enough. but in reality, fighters do get fired upon by caps in larger engaments. if they go poof by 2 lucky shots from a cap it would be very annoying. same applies to bombers.
but buying the armor is just a waste of money. every new chara sets you back 20+ mil. from which 15 is for the bloody upgrade. I mean, c`mon.
and having less armor often means a greatly reduced chance of winning. (CB combo anyone?)
the price is just too high for a piece of kit that you will need if you don`t want to have a serious disadvantage.
Besides, if we could go down so fast, why get a fighter? Get a LF and no one can hit you, and you can shoot a few times and their dead. Not too fair, i'd think. perhaps you could nerf the upgrades a bit, but not an altogether out the window kind of thing.
