like it was said - soon you ll be able to raise CR faction and buy it.
while i do agree that its questionable to get it in terms of hard RP. - i m not 100% sure about server rules there. - the CR might have gotten a NPC faction now to set them apart from the years long parent faction IMG, - but claiming their own ships, restricting them to others is another thing.
it works for capital warships, cause - after all, they still got another status... but a fighter is another issue.
the IMG is a loose confederation of independent miners - hard workers that would be considered to be on the civilian side. - strong for sure - like a powerful union, but still civilian.
but then - i m not in favour of a very restricive gameplay. - restricting stuff is always nice - if you re the one restricting. it sets one apart, makes one special. - the more restricted your gear - the more special you are. - thats an artificial way to stay "above" others. ( or to say it in a more pessimistic tone.... to keep others below you )
in rare cases, it makes perfect sense ( like the blood dragon ) - in others, it feels strange. - can t figure out if its strange or OK in the nyx case yet.
fact is - everyone wants something special, everyone wants to be someone special in a gamesetting that technically allows you to copy another person. the way to go is to find a compromise between a restrictive gameplay and fun for everyone ( as opposed to fun for only oneself .... )
making any IMG IDed / tagged player buy and use it works OK. - but i d not very much like it if the CR ( which i consider one of the best factions, simply cause it has been one of the very most consistant and permanently above average factions for all the time i ve been on disco ) claimed it for itself alone.
some time in the future maybe - but we ll need to let it sink that the IMG is not the CR anymore - and that the CR took a majority of the IMGs equipment with them.
that would be a precident for a rift within one faction. - the CR took the battleship ( formerly zoner ) a battlecruiser ( formerly IMG ) and a VHF ( formerly ... i don t know... wasn t it zoner, too? ... zoners were the cesspit of all generic ships sort of )
or in short - i wouldn t really press on a restrictive gameplay much. - have the two factions evolve and restrict out of the evolving gameplay - don t have the gameplay be determined by a preemptive restriction.
I don't think we're planning on trying to take anything solely for ourselves.
Although it'd make sense in some of the cases, it's not well.. it's not really fair towards the others to do so.
Some ships like the Nyx though, I firmly believe should be ours alone, but I don't think we mind that all those ships are considered shared projects between the IMG and ourselves.
The fact remains though, that the IMG NPC faction's RP isn't really one to have battleships, for example.
But it's a discussion for another time though. I don't really know all the facts or have the will to discuss such a thing at length now.
For the time being, and might be permanently, or not, don't know, all the ships belong to both the Colonial Remnant and the IMG, so that answers everyone's questions I think.
EDIT: Oh and Jinx, it says in the ships infocard that the design is jealously guarded, etc. etc. , so I don't think just about anyone outside the Colonial Remnant or IMG could have it. Extenuating circumstances.. perhaps.

yes - the main point i like to make is ... restrictions should come out of roleplay. - not out of nowhere.
i don t really mind a ship being restricted. - it just must not be restricted "cause one can" - but cause it makes sense. - that is both, ingame RP done by the players as well as a well written and reasoned ID card.
the blood dragon is restriced, cause the players really regard it as something special and the ID card states so. - it is a rarity in general perception.
restrictions should also be reserved to very very special ships only. - hence making them special. if every other ship was restricted, it becomes the common thing too much - and the really special ships are those that are not restricted ( which is somewhat a paradox )
in case of the nyx - i cannot judge about it, cause i never felt attracted to this ship - so i never cared much. i don t even know if its exceptional in pvp or not.
but i m not against restrictions. - they are very necessary to uphold roleplay. - it is good to know that everyone flying a glowing blue sperm is an enemy and not just another freelancer or mercenary.
i really dont get why all the fuss about the ship lines...Both IMG and CR have rights to same ship line including ALL ships that are called IMG.
Also, entire IMG ship line will be sold in Tau 39, and it should...
ATM due to strange bug in rep nobody can buy any of the ships and equip sold in Tau 44 including CR members...Bases and NPCs are hostile to everyone...
@ Jinx....you are wrong...CR didnt take away any of the ships from IMG, in fact, because of CR, IMG now has entire ship line with ships they didnt had before (battleship, bomber and transport, even GB from earlier releases)...every ship in that ship line is at their disposal...however, non IMG/CR parties are not allowed to fly carrier, BC and Nyx...and that's it...
i dont know...it was suposed to be replaced with Xingmodel but it wasnt..i dont know why...
But if that ship is to be replaced with one of my models i will take suggestions from IMG and rest of the community...in my opinion it will look somewhat different then current IMG ships only to point out to its zoner origin...
