Just accept it, the BHG BS is a light BS, and is NOT SUPPOSED to fight a legate head on! They are intended to dodge and fire, missing enemy shots, while repetedly hitting the target. Anyone who tries to use a ligt BS as a dreadnought is going to die. Learn how to fly your ship before asking for it to be buffed or asking for a new one!
Fly the BH BS as you would a gunboat or gunship, except without the heavy agility.
Ergo, strafe. Use it. It's your friend. Keep in mind the way the ship was designed, so, face head-on to your opponent, and strafe like a mad bunny on steroids.
The BH BS is not a tank, as compared to the Legate.
Speaking as someone who dies a lot, the BH ships are well balanced in comparison to the ships they usually come up against. You're just doing it wrong. Take the Greyhound for instance. It has only something like 9200 armor and four guns. Just looking at those state it may seem like a horrid ship in FLDatastorm or FLStat. But what makes it a good ship is not the armor or guns, but he size of the ship itself. It's small and fast, and can dodge. End raeg.
huh, i've never though of myself as (crying) just stating a personal opinion. I will agree to the fact that a light BS with be a bad choice to use to fight a dreadnaut because its suicide. Agmeni would like to speak to you sometime ingame about some other issues unrelated to this topic time. An kurosora, I have tryed all thew BH ship an i really like them to a term.
Cosmos, i would watch what is said, insulting as it is to me having to hear that i can't fly is bad enought to me :nono:
then i have the feeling ppl are gonna yell..buff all Heavy BS's armour..because an Osiris can kill 1 easily with only 6 primary turrets at range of 1.2K...>.<

:nono:You obiously can't fly it. It is not a head-on battleship, it is a dodging one! :nono:
You are comparing the heaviest battle ship to the lightest!
EDIT: Also, if you want it locked, PM one of the Admins. (Such as Hoodlum/Lens)
what i find most troubling in this thread is the hostility towards the OP. - asking if something can be buffed up can be discussed in a civilized manner without insults.
additionally it can also be said that "yes" the ship HAS weaknesses. - they are partly intended due to the RP, partly ( and that is also undeniable ) - they are based on bias. ( but that doesn t mean its only limited to the BHG - bias is everpresent EVERYWHERE - even if one tries not to be biased and really really tries to be objective )
experience with encounters - experience with tales, rumors, etc. play a vital role in forming an opinion.
right now - the BHG battleship is - as it was said - a light battleship. balancing it does not mean that it needs to be equal in terms of PVP compared to the most likely enemies ( nomad battleship, corsair battleship, order battleship ) - balance means that what it represents ingame is plausible and reasonable.
it has strengthes - extrem ones - as well as weaknesses ( also extreme ones ).
by no means it is really agile ( sometimes it reads in the previous posts as if it was some sort of a light fighter ) - but it IS small ( no, not smaller than the osiris )
it is well armed ( giving it more firepower would feel wrong - at least to me and to many others that try to be objetive ) - and all in all, it is a battleship to have fun with ( <--- thats the most important thing )
many things must be taken into consideration when balancing a battleship - many more things than just stats and size.
- who can use it and what for
- will it be mostly for show - or mostly for pvp
- is it considered to be common or rare
- how much freedom do i have with it
to answer these few points...
- BHGs are really very relaxed when it comes to restrictions, - there isn t even many questions when you buy one ( compared to some other factions that consider you a rogue per se - unless you write them a justification they like )
- it is mostly for RP AND PVP. - means you can actually take your ship and your weapons into a fight. - ask a zoner in a juggernaut. - great ship.... but most of the juggernauts i have seen in combat are a bit off zoner RP ( from my personal point of view - or in other words - i would not have engaged but tried to find another way )
- its considered quite common. - loosing one isn t an epic loss.... getting one is also rather common. - thats important when it comes to encounters. - you can really afford to die in pvp without making a lot of fuss about it.
- you have a lot of freedom with it. - engaging, disengaging. - it might sound as if many factions enjoy that freedom, but that isn t really true.... many factions must ( if they wanne stay very true to their canon RP ) look much more after their ship. a blood dragon battleship cannot be taken into a normal pvp like a BHG battleship. - many more questions would be asked.
those are just some points that someone that speaks about balance also needs to consider.
i do not fly the ship ( but i would, if we hadn t limited a player to one battleship ) - the ship is not the most powerful - but when it comes to regular RP... i think it is one of the ships to have the most fun with.... .
