I wonder how many times this needs to be said, the BHG BS is a matched opponent for the legate in skilled hands, if you try to use it as a dread, you will die, but if used properly by making full use of its agility, it can take on and kill a legate. It is all a matter or tactics more than simple ship stats.

who said it was to beat the legate? i was just sayin it might be a good idea to have a ship or platform that can launch large squaderns of fighter or bombers in defence of the light bs or smaller ships.

But the whole theme of the BHG ship line (apart from the BC) is agility and speed over power and armour. Therefore, making a heavy dread or a carrier would totaly off-set and unbalence the BHG shipline not to mention look totaly out of place.

that would mean a carrier. and the carrier would be an entirely different ship, which is not being debated here.

as it stands, the Mako can hold its own quite well, but when facing a dreanought, it will be destroyed 90% of the times. why? becuase it isn`t meant to take on dreadnoughts 1 on 1. that`s where Jinx` statement comes into play. 1 powerfull cap equals 2 weaker ones.

then why do the corsairs have the legate, it slightly looks unbalanced aswell due to the corsair having
limited funding. I don't see how the corsairs got this ship throw the development stage. Besides, the Bounty Hunters have the funding of certain goverments so help catch the troblesome pirates in those systems. That said who funded the building of this ship?

The Corsairs DO have the funding... where do you think all the money goes with the Artifact trading?
Its food they don't have.

Things are fine the way it is, every shipline has its advantages and dis-advantages.

Have you seen the ammount of raw resources the corsairs have at their disposal? Not to mention 3 whole shipyards. Also, with the ammount of piracy that they are commited to and the vast amounts of money they recieve from the artefact trade, i dont think it is strange that they would build large fleets. Also, if you read some of the older roumers on crete, you will see that they have conquest plans for rheinland, all this would lead anyone to suspect that they had numerous capital fleets.

Also, the legate is in keeping with the corsair ship line, they favour power and armour over agility and speed, meaning a heave dread was the logical choice.

And to go one the funding and technology side of things, if the bh ships was exactly the way you think they should be, then they would be doomed? Why because i know the order has vastly superior tech then you, including cloaks ect, but in disco they dont have it, the same with nomads, the same with the oc and practically every faction in disco.

It is the way it is so its fair enough for everyone keeping it as close to the rp as that allows it.

I hate to disagree , but nothing short of the Legate standing still and not firing at all is going to help the Mako win. Battleships are completely different from every other ship type , basicly , it's not possible for the Mako to beat the Legate with it's current weapon hard points. No matter what tactic you use , etc.

even so, the corsairs should not be able to build this ship in such a large volume may be one ship or two but not five to ten. this seems too impossible to manage even with the flow of artifacts leaving alpha. i can see the Bounty Hunter building a ship like this only because of the funds generated from all the hunters contributing to the cause.
