"The Hellfire Legion understands your point of view and quite frankly supports it...as I was there when it and the other ships made it to Sirius... And as you I Drake Thastus harbor no ill feelings for any of the great houses except Liberty because the betrayed me...but now as a mercenary...this war is good and it is good for the Outcasts. Why? Because your goals and points are easier to get across when the Great Houses are bloodied and wounded...
I must also state that if the debate over who should get the right to Tau-31 continues and our brethren the Outcasts are ignored constantly...the Hellfire Legion and it's Lane Hacker allies will be forced to enter into this war an assist the Outcasts... I Drake Thastus although having spent considerably large amounts of time with the Outcasts never managed to speak with them about what their goals are, I never could gain their trust.
This conflict has begun to make me realize that there is more to Sirius than the death of Liberty and that there are others whom I fought for that still are warring with one another...The Outcasts being one of them, I killed members of the Coalition so they could go free and that Sirius could be colonizied. But now in this time I find myself in the situation that the Outcasts and others like them are being ignored. This entire Tau-31 issue is becoming the main point of debate where this potential peace is being centered...
So I have come to the conclusion that the system of Tau-31 should be given to...the Outcasts... And that Bretonia and Kusari should ingore it and continue their petty war while those like myself simply strive to get along in this galaxy...
Now to the Ambassador herself, I understand that your knowlegde of the events of Sirius is limited but in Kusari are there not Libraries? Or broadcasts? The only way to be ignorant in this galaxy is to choose to be and that I find is quite common...
To those who represent the Blood Dragons...again this is the same case that the Outcasts have, the minority I found myself fighting to protect is being ignored the bureaucracy and being forced into a warring existance when they just want freedom and to be given what is rightfully their's. I have been a fool to merely go on a mad quest for vengeance...to those who want freedom and to be Houses like they should be...the Legion that was forged from the flames of hell is ready to help... I Drake Thastus, have realized that something must be done before I can bring down those who betrayed me..."
OOC: Well there ya go, Drake Thastus' opinion on the matter... And remember all of this is in RP...
*(Nicely done, Tankie. I am guilty of underestimating you.)*
Gentlemen, Gentlemen!
Again, we have one party here addressing another in support and wishes for continued war, when neither of the parties are the actual combatants who started the conflict!
I will admit that Madam deLuna's zeal in her quest for peace outweighs her knowledge of the many shadow shows which underlie the basic conflict. She called us together here with the hope that the two Houses behind this terrible war would bring us their issues, concerns, and demands, to be openly discussed.
I do not for a moment discount that each of us, each of us, has some stake in the outcome. Whether it is recognition, increased power on the Sector's stage, wealth, or revenge.
But, until we know what issues the two major enemies in this war continue to have, or to perceive they have, with each other; I fear we cannot resolve the issues presented here by the other delegates! Until then, we are no better than vultures sitting by the roadside, awaiting the carrion of a gruesome accident!
Once we have actually seen a delegate from Bretonia or one of its factions, then I suggest we may proceed with all the issues involved.
Bretonia must act responsibly and send us a representative with the power to address all issues, not just the War itself; one willing to listen without rancor and to consider not just the Kusari plea, but the demands of all involved parties.
Kusari, Madam Ambassador, must also do its homework, and be prepared to state what it will be willing to concede if claims by the non-combatant parties are found to be valid and worthy.
I suggest an adjournment until Bretonia is forthcoming and ready to stand, and until deLuna-san has had a chance to consult with her peers. The "rose of peace" that she dreams of between two enemies has suddenly sprouted a multitude of thorns. At least, give her a chance to retrieve her bloody glooves!
A war like this greatly benefits the pirate factions, such as us, who can untilize the weakend forces to our advantage in coming raids. I dont think peaces talk should be conducted.
Short but Precise,
Verginix Out
OOC: Just ebcause some guy comes on adns say make peace, doesn't mean we should because Igiss has worked hard setting up this RP war through MEssages and Rep editings and stuff, I say leave it until the war has acctually gone on longer, instead of skirmishes in the Tau's
The Coalition will gladly allow you fools to brush yourselves, it will save us some trouble. Any pilots disaffected by silly restrictions and bickerings may join me, we welcome all that have the... killer instinct.
For the Revolution! Mcintosh out.
OOC: Aye, stop buggering with the mod storyline, Its like that for a reason.
Jack Handey Wrote:I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.
OOC: If someone wants to step in for the abassadorial position for Bretonia go ahead, but here's Bretonia's current take on things (which doesn't leave much for the ambassador until certain changes occur)
With rumors spreading like wildfire, the ambassador from Bretonia quickly closed his comm link and proceeded to the conference...
"Apologies fellow delegates for my late arrivial, I was receiving communcations from Admiral Firebird of the SF. He wishes the following message be delivered regarding the Bretonian Military position on this matter."
Clears throat and begins reading the statement.
"The SF reports the continued advancement of Kusari Naval Forces into Tau-31 and Leeds. We are not talking simple patrols but elite Chimera fighters of their Navy. While striving for peace at this conference, the actions of the Kusari seem to dictate another political policy at work. In response to these actions of war, the SF have launched pre-emptive strikes against supply and ship manufacturing facilities at Yokohama and Yukagawa. Until such time that the KNF removes its forces from Leeds and besieged Planet Harris, either by choice or by force, there is no point to this conference since the Kusari have no interest in peace and simply want to use this conference as a distraction for their war on Bretonia. The Bretonian ambassador will remain to listen to this farce, but until a Kusari withdrawl is done as a measure of good-faith, the ambassador is in no position to make any agreements . For now SF and BAF forces will continue their defense of Bretonia and the SF will continue its assaults on Kusari ship manufacturing abilities in an effort to quiet this rampaging beast."
Takes a brief pause.
"So to the Kusari Ambassador, the move is yours...withdraw your ships if you want peace, otherwise this conference is a farce and the SF will continue to strike at the heart of this beast that appears to speak with a serpent's tongue. Admiral Firebird, SF High Command"
The ambassador places the message pad down and takes his seat at the conference.
(OOC: I've got no clue what Igiss has planned, so I'm just responding how I think Bretonia would given the current affairs)
My Mal-sided fellow, you're trying to play on both sides of the fence. 'Words, words, mere words, no matter from the heart.', I'd quote the Bard.
I will be honest, I find your petty meddling rather distasteful, but that was what you were always doing, you seem incapable of better. You have been tolerated too long. On top of that, your true colors are showing, or a shade of Kusari gray is showing, to be precise. You're falling into your own traps. Hell is empty and all the devils are here.
My questioning of 'competence' and 'virtues' and my notice of the 'arrogance' is based on what is shown. The Madam is an obvious puppet in the hands of the corrupt Kusari government. Her ignorance and naive beliefs clearly show that. The outburst of rage... not a diplomatic quality, more a quality of an insecure woman defending herself by appearing dangerous, over-defensive, you have the years of experience. I might consider inviting her to the Sanctum for a... private show; maybe she agrees to become my marionette, a lot of benefits to that for both sides, but I digress, as the Bard said: 'Beauty is all very well at first sight; but whoever looks at it when it has been in the house three days?'
Long time ago, after we made planetfall on Malta, the first several years were touch and go. Many people starved; others simply gave up and died strung up on Cardamine. They would stare into the distance -- all hope gone from their faces and purple juice dribbling from their mouths. I've heard stories of the Corsair Vandun line. They gave themselves up for butchering to feed the starving families. The line doesn't exist anymore. Yet every Corsair will say that he/she is part Vandun. The Corsairs have strayed from the righteous path, but that is not the subject here. You simply have to understand that the bad blood between the Children of the Hispania and the Houses can be remedied by one simple step - the recognition of the Hispania as a legitimate House.
The Kusari promise of Tau-31 to our enemies, of Tau-31 which is not Kusari's to give, is a step into further bloodshed. Such blatant disregard will not be tolerated, not only by the Outcasts, but by no one. In the end, it can only push the sector into an all-out war. Your lack of vision surprises me. Or was it what you were planning from he beginning?
However, as the Great Bard once said: 'If we are marked to die, we are enough to do our country loss; and if to live, the fewer men, the greater share of honor.'. We are ready, are you?
With the little respect left,
Bernard Fokke, Outcasts, Duke of Corsica

*(ooc: Allow me to step waay out of character here, folks, and make a few observations:
Virtually every post I have seen made to this excellent thread has been thoughtful, and tasteful within the confines of the RP of each Faction. Firebird, thanks for coming, although I hear that your "hands are tied" on some of the prime issues. We all to some degree have the same constraints.
I would just like to offer that I doubt very much Harlequinn's purpose is to "kneecap" Igiss or his inspired advancement of the Freelancer saga through the Bretonian/Kusari conflict. It does add dimensions which make the game more interesting.
I would also offer that what we are seeing here, in these debates, is a microcosm of what we all are experiencing today in the "real" world. Strife over concepts of "right", terrorism, death and destruction. There is a point in the "real world" where i'm certain we have all thrown up our hands, and turned away; feeling that there is nothing we as individuals can do to restore peace, compassion, and, dare I say it, "love", to the world we live in. We feel that we are helpless to affect the outcomes of the many conflicts we see about us. I do not like that helpless feeling, yet I experience it on a regular basis. I wonder where the "ideals" of peace, democracy (even in my own "supposed" democracy), and mutual respect have gone.
Enough "soapbox". I merely suggest that Harlequinn may be trying (in her devious way ^_^ ), to give us a bit of "microcosmic" hope that such things as peace and understanding can indeed be accomplished. I give her huge applause and credit for doing so.
Whether or not what we are doing in this "conference" affects the eventual storyline of Discovery, I feel that it is serving a valuable purpose on the individual, "real" level. Harlequinn is a "hope fiend", bless her heart.
There are few too many of those in the "real" world today. While we niggle and haggle in this arena, defending "turf" and "back stories" and our individual claims, (not sure again that "I" Malaclypse really have a claim even to be attending); I would ask that we consider how we feel about events that affect us, enrage us, and sadden us in our daily lives. "In here", we are being given an opportunity to change things, or not.
We are on a very small level being given the opportunity to affect events, perhaps as we would like to see them affected and improved "out there".
It is merely our "shadow show" on one level. On another, it is a small breath of hope, if we will but see it that way, and choose to take it. And the next, and the next.
I apologize to the "Ambassador-san" if I have risked opening this thread to further *ooc* responses. I will stay in my "robes" from now on; and hope that we all will extend you the same courtesy.
I too am a "Hope fiend".
"the author". )*
To our esteemed and knowlegeable representative from the Outcasts:
"Both sides", indeed. Perhaps you missed the fact that I have attempted in a small way to play "your' side as well, here. I have stated, if you will notice, that the Children of the Hispania may indeed have valid claims in this matter, that deserve to be addressed. A small attempt at this point in time, but one which you have answered with only vituperation, and insult. I have noted the suffering of your people, yet you seem to be extremely cavalier about the suffering, and the hopes of others.
Bernard, the "Children" may not be regarded officially as a "Major House", but I will submit that you hold sway over vast portions of Sirius. Beta, Tau-37, 23, 29, and newly "discovered systems as well. By Thud, your people even inhabit a large, virtually "accepted" base in Bretonia space! Yet you continue to be incensed about a bloody system of ice chunks! It will remain a system of ice chunks.. no useful planet, no new trade lanes, no commerce of note save for mining and war profiteering, as long as we continue to intersperse those ice chunks with burnt out, mangled machines of war, and the corpses of all our children.
You may say what you will of my "reputation" and my meddling. However, I resent your questioning of my loyalties and intent in this matter. It might interest you, and all the delegates to know, that I was recently offered the position of 13th member of the Council of the Colonials, and as Oracle to the President himself.
I refused, in anticipation of just the sort of of "duplicity" you are implying.
However, as you seem rather adverse to my efforts and opinions, I will put it to this Conference once again: Is my presence here wanted or not? I will abide by their wishes, Bernard, not yours alone.
Insults? But sire, you are insulting my and the intelligence of every sentient human being in the sector that has over twenty-five standard years of age.
Do I have to point out what is the significance of Tau-31 to you? You yourself are saying, I quote
Quote:a bloody system of ice chunks! It will remain a system of ice chunks..
To you, maybe, for the Outcasts, it's a source of water.
Not only that is the reason of my incensement, it is the fact that the Kusari ambassador so blatantly took the liberty of 'giving' it to the IMG. Tau-31 is not a golden lock of hair from her excellency's head to give as a romantic reminder of love. The Outcasts have suffered death, the Outcasts are ready to suffer more if it is necessary. We live with it every day, from dusk 'till dawn and every day that follows until we pass into the great unknown.
Your reputation, sir, is something I can't afford to ignore. You have declared yourself 'Epopt to the Outcasts' and yet haven't made a single contact to any officials about that. The only logical thought is in the lines of 'disruptive behavior'. Considering the fact that you attack my motives like this, so ostentatiously supporting what would be your enemies, Sir, I would be questioning the quality of that Kallisti Gold you're handing out if I were a Colonial. But I understand them. They just came from a long perilous journey, they have the potential. Provided they take the right path, they can prosper and flourish. That is yet to be seen.
Finally, as far as I am concerned, your presence here is welcomed as we are trying to bring up a democratic solution. Or am I wrong here? You have the same right as most others present here, to attend. But please, don't insult us by telling 'reverse psychology' bedtime stories with no foundation whatsoever. In fact I suggest we stop 'beating a dead horse' and the so called peace makers go back to elementary school and take some history lessons.

Because I believe the purpose of this entire congregation has become less based on trying to get innocent peace, and more a political forum, I request that all delegates leave peacefully. We cannot accomplish anything with the intensity that is in the air now. I am sorry that we could not negotiate, but I never expected that we would be able to. The war between the Kusari and Britonians must continue because there is such bad blood between us all that we cannot live coexistently. Therefore, thank you for the concern and thoughts, but I fear we will not be able achieve anything.
Delegates, I wish that I would have been promoted before this point had come. The event? The war has escalated to a point where we cannot hope to alter it's course. Let the dead bury the dead.
Thank you for trying, but it was doomed from the beginning. I see now that some things in life are concrete and inevitable, as well as being less organic than some may believe.
Au revoir. Adieu, adieu, parting is such sweet sorrow.
