Official position: I'll make sure to get a contingent of lulwutters together in-game. If it bothers you, ignore them as well. Stop trying to tromp on other people's easily typed expressions of laughter.
Same thing, really. 0.o
Theres "Ohai, selling my battleship cuz i got bored with it. min bid is 60 mil" and then theres (in-game)
"Ohai, d00d, lets go pwn teh trade route for our cruisers, lul!"
The actual act of selling ships I don't mind, its the lack of effort and, incidentally, RP - that bothers me.
Well, some of the sales are really OORP, even tho written in RP-way...
On one side, I understand that people who bought ships and want to get rid of them... will be happy to get some more money back.
On the otherside selling Liberty Battlecruiser or any Battleship at all on open market is equivalent of seriously selling nucler devices or fully-functional tanks on ebay. It simply is a nonsence.
Would be good if people just made some compromise between theese two always, it's not that hard... and hey, it's not all that bad to make reps by yourself, as I know this is reason why people buy a lot... "Making dat guard rep fer dat bigshipz takes da hellotaof time!"
I buy things I don't want to make an impression on people I don't like.
Until we get an OoRP "stock exchange", we will see silly ship sales whose RP does not work. And I will be arguing that my Freelancer bought that Liberty Dreadnought fair and square...
I can understand the concerns about people selling and buying ships. The move command makes it even easier than before. However, as long as the command exists this will continue to happen, regardless of whether you make it against the rules or not. Many MMORPGs forbid the sale of accounts and characters, but it still happens. The only difference is it is done through a black market.
I don't think the concern is great enough to put that much more strain on the Admins, and the command is far too useful even for those of us that don't sell ships to remove. On top of that, we can't assume that everyone who buys a ship is going to be a lolwutting noob. It's a terrible thing when we stop giving people the benefit of the doubt.
