One way around is to make up some harmless words/expressions to use instead, such as BSG and their "frack." For example, I have a character who says "What the space?" It may be a euphemism to us, but it doesn't have to be for the characters... the best of both worlds.
I have a question in regards to typing messages only in understandable English. What if one was in, say, the Rheinland Military, and said something like "Achtung, (other character)! Please hold as I search your cargo!"? I mean, if people were to be able to use words that are pretty well known like "guttentag" (spelling?), "ja," and "nein" as Rheinlanders, it would add a bit of immersiveness.
Nanook, this issue was discussed.... simple well-known phrases and stereotypical bastardised German are ok. As long it it doesn't send everyone running to de.wikipedia or w/e.
I'm pretty sure everybody knows the general rules of behaviour -vocabulary wise-, in real life.
Alot of the questions here addresses to Igiss after his attempt to make a clear statement and deal with the mess amongst you lot, seem somewhat silly to me tbh.
You all know what is verbally ok and what is not.
Be your own teacher, stop asking the obvious.
This is you, your life. Not some classroom where you can try to outsmart the fella in the front.
Remember yer mother's wise lessons, lads.
Now just act the same way inhere.
It's not that hard, and only gets you respected more. :yahoo:
The man made a point. Let's live by the new rules and hush it.

Erm, okay. Could anyone point me to where that part was discussed? I searched this thread before asking my first question and couldn't find anything...

As long as the meaning is pretty clear, ie "Nien!" and "ja" would be fine, but more complex phrases might not be so good. And apparently noone here understands french...

Yea, I would suspect that those thigns and phrases would be allowed, would be cheesy if not in my opinion. Also, on my Roddy and Rita character, their Computer AI speeks German (Rheinland Gunboat) so if I start sending out a small sentence or so In German, don't report me..
Yeah I have character, who says morbid things and talks about killing and blood (he's evil and kills people that's the RP) but is that allowed? Because I am unsure...
I think everyone is aware of the limits of what, or what not should be said. The most important thing is to
make all of the chat as roleplay orientated as possible. Not so hard if you are well in character ...
The worse one is the name or coward/chicken calling, its boring and certainly tends to make me wind people
up. Make it more interesting guys ... If you going to try to insult, do it with a bit more style.
