The only thing an elder would say is that everything is perfectly fine. But it is not. Sure, there are good roleplayers in Gamma too, never said there aren't, but they are heavily outnumbered, and the main thing that worries me is that many faction members don't seem to have the required stance, as a role-model. They just seem to do the same thing the headless indies do. Except they do it under a tag.

Not in a Titan. Now, in a Praetorian ...
I don't think getting overpowered in Gamma is altogether a problem. It makes a lot of sense in many respects. Only thing is if it keeps happening that you meet all the Osirises, you just don't bother going anywhere near the Corsair systems.
Well, I dont know how much I can offer, having been an elder before but not in present times.
But anyway, the situation of the Corsairs really stressed me out back in the day. When the flow of new Corsairs was lower than what the factions could handle, it was fine. Then there was bickering between the factions (of which I myself in no small part instigated). By the time we were done with each other, the territory that we'd been politically manoevering for had become filled by the unwashed masses. The reason why the Council of Elders has basically been nullified? The leaders dont get along well together when making decisions about the Corsairs (though, they get along well together as friends). Whoever's fault that is is up to debate.
Thats not to say that the fault lies solely with the factions. Simply put, I see a lot of people here saying 'someone should fix it!'. Frankly, I've tried before, a long time ago. The time it took to educate one person from scratch, to have him then leave disco all together, was just not worth it. My patience, and the patience of my peers ran out long ago with these people. The way I dealt with it then was to spend most of my time pretending they didn't exist. Not satisfactory, I know, but I do have better things to do with my time.
And dont think we're only lazy. I know that I was driven on some rare occasions to tears (sad, I know ) by the situation in Omicron Gamma and within the Corsair Empire itself. Luckily, I had intervention from Ench, who told me outright that enough was enough, and that I should quit it until I feel I can handle it again. Since then, my TBH characters became AFA characters, and I've moved even further away from the homeland of Crete.
Advertising factions for people who seriously want to roleplay as dedicated Corsairs for a large bulk of their server time also isn't such a good idea (whether OPG, TBH or Benitez). The ridiculousness of perhaps, 75% of the Corsair population drives most of the veteran players to play on other characters for most of their server time, so you usually wont have a wingman who knows his left from his right. Im not going to go and advertise one Corsair faction over another however, since I have my own opinion and I'd probably get an earful from Gentle if I voiced them in my typically arrogant way.
The short-term solution for each faction is generally different. The Brotherhood have decided to haul up in Omega 50 and engage in diplomatic ties with the Zoners, far away from the stupidity infesting the Omicrons. The OPG have decided to call Cadiz their home and act raiders on the shipping in Cambridge, Omega 3 and Omega 7. Unfortunately, they've drawn quite a few failures from Omicron Gamma to their banner as well, but that's a different story. However, I've not seen the Benitez out in force recently. Considering that this is the Summer, Carlos should be on his summer holiday so I don't know what's happening on that front.
Teschy: You're almost as bad with the Corsairs as you are with the Phantoms.
Would it be unjust to sanction, for having 2 Corsair cruisers running around in Hamburg for OORP?, for various reasons:
1) 1 Route is through Texas. Which in itself, is impossible, in RP, Liberty would blast the crap out of ANYTHING that isn't Libertonian or Bretonian..
2) Other route is through the Omegas.. which means that the months spent on the line in the sand with the Hessians means nothing, they just fly right overtop of one of their greatest enemies to shoot some Rheinland Military, which in turn is OORP again.
/Rant ended.
Anyways... how is it possible to teach them that Caps don't always win?
I don't think it would be that hard... You could make a kind of forum group which reviews and grades rp stories of people flying caps, and forwards those in violation to the admins... That would kind of reduce the amount of job and make things easier, and keep disco cleaner... I don't think its that hard... Besides those capspamers should really understand that flying a cruiser or a battleship makes you a HUGE stationary piece of metal that can be easily shredded by bombers... Each time I launch from Crete I'm thinking: "Will I get a bunch of torps on my hull today?" and this is why I like flying the Praefect... Not because it's huge and has enormous firepower... It's for the challenge, and for fun IN RP-WISE WAY.
Besides I'm always trying to educate those dudes..
hM,yesterday, elder globalo exploded in his light fighter near kappa hole, maybe they rescue him
but then, gloallo will sit in his legate in front of crete and killing all lolwuters, lolcaps without any difference.
I say its hard having tried it, watch people trying it, and both failing.
But if you don't believe me, and it's not that hard, Im sure you can do it yourself.
Myself, Im not willing to put in the time anymore.
Lynch me for my laziness.

This interests me specifically. I can probably count on one hand how many of the capital ships have RP stories that arent factionalised ones. What do you suggest we do to the others? It isn't a violation to just buy a battleship. I dont see a faction right number five, or any alternative (in this case, I was for a change in the right to allow the purchase and then a subsequent review, rather than a review before purchase). A brute force approach hasn't been tried, because its cruel, but I increasingly believe that it may be an approach that at least needs to be tried, since we have less than satisfactory results from the softly-softly method.

Even if my opinion still mattered, which it doesn't, I'd tell you to go for it. If you're willing to put in the effort, please do it.
Two Indy Corsairs who have "alledgedly" (no screenies) attacked a Consortium trader and violated an NFZ in the process, were sighted in Theta.
A few Zoners responded to secure the Freeport 9 NFZ, just in case, and then an amazing and wonderful thing happened. Members of the Benitez family and the OPG arrived, and thoroughly grilled and chastised the Indies for violating Zoner "friendship" and laws.
I was both flabbergasted and heartened. Everything was in roleplay, and followed existing Zoner and Corsair diplomacy.
It may have been in Theta, but those Benitez and OPG came from somewhere.. perhaps there is hope for Gamma, after all.

The funny thing in all of this is that those indy 'sairs prolly have a Guard IDed Zoner Whale that they use for powertrading and they use that so they can go: I R Zonerz, U cant pirat meh.
One chance there where factioned 'sairs to save the day.
