' Wrote:Also, the fact that its an antimatter cannon is kinda silly considering places like that antimatter research facility in Kusari stating that they haven't gotten anything from antimatter that's safe to use, and it would take more then 17 years to make it stable enough to be used in everysingle combat ship out there.
I'd say simply rename it from antimatter to something else, like plasma or tachyon or nuclear.
Great, we are currently about 18 years after the time when those rumours started:)
' Wrote:I suppose you're right, however, arn't their cap turrets based of outcast or something?
Nothing like them. Rogue turrets are more like Solaris than anything.
Quote:Most of their technology would be based off outcast. Their ships are like... bits of junk put together.
Rogues had little connection with Outcast technology in Vanilla. Rogue weapondry is Laser, Outcasts use Tachyon and Particle weapons. And the Barghest is a very finely constructed, highly sophisticated piece of equipment thank you very much. I can see the Rogues developing a weapon to go along with their highly prized bomber.
' Wrote:Hackers are intelligent, but I doubt they have the resources.
Do you even know anything about Liberty pirates? D:
The Lane Hackers developed a cutting edge ship line and have the Spyglass, a stolen Liberty prototype. Liberty Rogues have developed the best Laser weapon in Sirius, and also have arguable the best super bomber available. They were also able to fund the research and construction of the Scylla after the old Outcast Destroyers were decomissioned. Liberty Pirates aren't weak any more, they're rich and powerful now.
How about we simplify it and, instead of modifying the SN for each and every faction, make 6 or 7 of them.
Liberty
Rheinland
Bretonia
Kusari
Corsair
Outcast
Order
Misc (current SN)
Give each one the exact same stats, but just change the particle effect/projectile. Add on to the infocard "this cannon appears to have been modified in Liberty (or Rheinland, or by the Order, what have you.)"
That way, even if someone has the "wrong" SN, doesn't mean that it's illegal or sanctionable or anything. It simply adds another aspect to their character, possibly identifying origin or simply what colour they like.
If a Bretonian has a Kusarian SN..... yes it would mean its illegal and sanctionable as its oorp, said bretonian wouldnt have been able to obtain it in any normal way.
Personally I'd rather if each SN were different in some way. Such as Kusari's being fast either on both projectile speed / refire but lower damage. Rheinland's being slow but heavy hitting. Bretonia's being slow refire but less power use, Liberty's being more speed but more power use. ETC

Not gonna explain to you in a huge wall of text. I rather just demonstrate with this thread. Look how many pages it is before Frozen revived it... about 30 pages right?
You know what those 30 pages there are about? People complaining about all kinds of issues about different stats of different Supernovas. Why is this so low damage? Why is this so slow? Why is this Supernova this and that... if I remember correctly when Orin first suggested this, about three other threads of the same issue were created just in the same week...
You are opening Pandora's box if you try to implement different stats.
Why is this bomber more agile than this bomber?
Why is this fighter harder to hit than this fighter?
Why does this VHF have a better powerplant than this VHF?
Why does this large VHF turn faster than this small HF?
Lets answer a few of those in other examples:
Why is a Battleship so slow? Because it does alot of damage.
Why is a Light Fighter so fast? Because it does little damage.
Why can a cap thrust at 160 while a Fighter thrusts at 200? Because its a bigger, heavier ship capable of overpowering lone fighters easily.
Its called balance. Some ships are slower than others but do more damage. Some ships are faster than others and do less damage. Some guns are stronger, but slower than others. Some guns are weaker, but faster than others. Or on an entirely different approach, some guns are stronger, cost more to use, and take longer to reuse.
You are right Raisu but this particular issue has erupted loads of discussion more than anything else. At least from my experience, could be wrong.
Regardless this discussion of ours is pointless and I will tell you why it is pointless:
