EDIT: @Gloucester uhh yes Hammerhead is a VHF in infocard, but has lvl 9 shield, low armor and 9k powercore = HF, Charon also has lvl9 shield, low armor, Sabre powercore (smaller than Greyhound), but rather slow for a HF.
Igiss says: Martin, you give them a finger, they bite off your arm.
Back in 4.84, the Greyhound was fun to fly. It was small, it was... kinda agile... was a pain to fight anything in though, on account of being completely unable to damage anything...
In other news, I actually managed a personal first yesterday-- I downed the shields of an Avenger using a Greyhound. But I needed to mount quad debbies to do so...
Seems like the main difference in experience here is that the Mollies are using quad codes and mini razors, and the rogues are using CDs and Sammaels...

Dude, you're seriously doing it wrong then. I managed to kill a Manta while flying a Hyena. Alone.
In other words, if you cannot shoot down the average Manta pilot while flying a Greyhound i was either god this day, or something is horribly wrong.
In a brilliant tactical movement, i charged backwards.

I... do not recall mentioning Mantas. I do not recall facing one in combat either.

Rogues need razors!
Greyhounds are not really purposed to do piracy anyway, so why mount CD? I use Barghest for piracy, always.
And quad codes... yes, look at Trefoils and you will know why :(

What Glouchester said. In 4.84 it was still weak in the firepower department, but at least it had the survivability to make up for it. Now it's lost a lot of armour and shield capacity/regen and a larger model... and gained nothing for it.
Quote:On a technical note: not even the fighters actually use the shieldbubble that you see in modeling programs. It's always somehow downscaled to fit the model. This was found during Catamaran testing between 4.84 and 4.85.
Good to know.

Pirates. Not gonna stop many traders with a Razor. And yes, it is possible to kill transports with a Greyhound... used to be possible with Sammaels but now it requires codenames. Also, I have mounted Razors on rogue ships in the past, but I find that even if you're a support ship with someone who has a CD.. you're better off having a CD just incase they slip up. Otherwise you're gonna be seeing a lot of transports slip out of your grasp...

Skill -- some people have more than others. It's not his fault he hasn't played as much as you or learned to fight the way you do. You're talking to someone who's only just rejoined Discovery recently.
But you'd have to admit.. if you were flying something like a Guardian or an Eagle you'd have done a lot better, right?

Yes, that would also account for it somewhat. It has been Rogue policy since way before me and Sindy ever joined the Rogues, let alone got the top positions, that codenames were not allowed on fighters. Of course, that'll change now since codes cannot be used on bombers. I've already got codenames on my Greyhound now.
Honestly, if something doesn't get done about the Greyhound to bridge the gap, then you're going to be seeing a lot more Rogues flying Sabres and Eagles.
