I'm with Jinx. Zoner gunboats are kind of weak to pirate in. The Sairs, Outcasts and Hackers make some fine gunboats if you're criminally minded.
Personally, I think it's totally oorp to pirate in gunboats but since the rules allow it, I suppose I have to eat it. The Buccaneers and the Xenos pirate quite well in bombers and fighters and I think they set a great example.
Oh yeah, don't pirate a Zoner in a Zoner built ship. Also, don't pirate or even kill a Zoner and then land on one of their bases. We had someone do that today in Omega 49.
Try everyones favorite ROGUE GUNBOAT. Just RP as a small crew of independent pirates basing off Freeports. (Except Freeport 4 and the Hood, since those are IMG, not Zoner.)

I'm with Mr Unusual on this one...
Why the 'ell does everyone think Junkers are pirates???
JUNKers means scrappers....
Oh, sure, we may move some illicit cargo here n there, be seen in Malta space or even Crete...
But if you've ever been pirated by a Junker it was an NPC or some ig'nant rat (like Legacy) who didnt know what Junkers DO...

A flaw in game mechanics is not a valid reason to use a flaw in RP. If you can assume it is scanning more than a single compartment of the ship, you can also assume that the ship has a crew and has a supply of needed supplies. No reason to put said items in the cargo hold.
If you want to pirate in a GB fine. If you want to use a Zoner GB fine (though I hate seeing Zoner ships of that size and higher used by non Zoners). If you pirate a Zoner in it, death will come to you switftly.
(Also, if you do pirate/kill a Zoner, follow Doc's advice, don't dock on a Zoner base. InRP you wouldn't be alive to undock from the base. Seems to be a rather popular thing to do lately though, happened in Theta too.)

Straight back at you: This is a double edged sword, though I'm fairly sure you knew that when you posted it.

The cargo hold is for cargo. Your crew doesn't sleep there, The food that you eat isn't stored there (there would be a seperate hold for that), the oxygen you breathe isn't stored there.... RP cargo isn't exactly great RP, I think.
After all, when's the last time you saw a truck driver operating the truck from the cargo box?
yes, and i don't sleep in my fridge, but i do store my food there. When i want some snacks/beer i... go to the fridge and get some out. of course, i kinda scan the fridge to see whats tasty, or i'd be ending up eating raw chicken or sommat

Almost anyone can pirate in a Gunboat, but it takes a little bit of skill to pirate in a fighter. Pirating in a Bomber is a little easier, but if your target is accompanied by a fighter, your likely gonna be screwed.
EDIT: Damn it I thought the forums combined double posts into one post.
While being quite funny, your sig was the biggest one i've ever seen so far. No more than 700x250 please. ~utrack http://pastebin.com/SYQXBufs
As a reply to the topic, I, for one, have seen far better results than pirating in a fighter by using a Gunboat. That said, a bomber trupms the Gunboat, and is better for pirating. I still thik the Barghest must be restricted. Say, permission from the LR faction leader?
And as for the civilian GB...really, it shouldn't be used for pirating. Perhaps heavy escort? That is, if it's ever made.
Maybe the whole solution is to make a general-use pirate Gunboat, saying each is made from spare parts. Give it a look between Junker, Rogue, and Civvie ships, and even I would fly it.
