' Wrote:Once again, due to a stupid and needless server rule, we can only use two of those nomad guns on any order ship.
If that rule gets changed, I'd be completely happy with the ship. Problem is, the other guns available to the order, reapers and death's hands, are complete crap compared to most faction 9's in this mod.
For being such an advanced organization, the order is far too limited.
Please look at Ench's math.
A Bastet with 6 Nomad Energy Blasters would pretty much be a pwnship.
Hell, Das Wilde doesn't use full compliments of them, even though we can... those things are crazy-good. A Wraith with 4 of these would be absolute murder. In my opinion they're amongst the best guns out there (Lamia still wins that).
As I said in the thread about the Krakens, look at the energy usage. Compare it to any other gun with remotely similar DPS.
Then look at the energy usage a few more times if it doesn't "click".
Here, I'll do it for you:
Nomad Energy Blaster (non-NPC)
2340 damage per second
376 energy per second
700 range
600 speed
4.00 refire
Nomad Energy Cannon (non-NPC)
2136 damage per second
339 energy per second
700 range
600 speed
3.03 refire
compared to a selection of similarly damaging guns and your own Order guns:
Arquebus (Gallic Brigands)
2,176 damage per second
588 energy per second
600 range
600 speed
5.88 refire
Black Widow (Xenos)
2,340 damage per second
700 energy per second
550 range
700 speed
4.00 refire
Death's Hand (Order)
2,000 damage per second
583 energy per second
600 range
750 speed
8.33 refire
Kalashnikov (Coalition)
2,352 damage per second
682 energy per second
572 range
715 speed
3.03 refire
Kraken (Outcasts)
2,224 damage per second
504 energy per second
700 range
700 speed
4.00 refire
Reaper (Order)
2,240 damage per second
532 energy per second
550 range
600 speed
4.00 refire
If you still can't see why you're only allowed two of them then you should never even glance at the balance section ever again.
Oh, and as a preemptive response to anyone who says "zomg nomads are pvp whores look at those guns" the Keepers don't use the Energy Weapons at all and I've yet to see a Wild (Das Wilde or Iseijin) with more than two of them.
EDIT:
I just ran a few more numbers in case the "six Nomad Energy Blaster Bastet" didn't jump out as crazy enough.
Bastet power capacity = 10400
regen = 1100
recharge time = 10400/1100 = 9.45 seconds
draw per second for firing 6 blasters:
2256-1100 = 1156
10400/1156 = 9 seconds of full firing, after which DPS drops to half
9 * 14040 = 126311 damage before DPS drops to half
rough average GB base hull (before armor):
100000
shield DPS:
14040 / 2 = 7020
shield damage across powerplant expenditure:
126311 / 2 = 63155
battleship shield regeneration per second:
4800
Two so armed Bastets could theoretically destroy a battleship. It would never happen, but still. One so armed Bastet might be able to thrash a gunboat, given a bit of time. A squadron of these things would be nigh-unstoppable.
No, I don't think anyone is going to let you have one of those anytime soon.
I agree, if people are going to bitch about 6 nomad cannon bastets, then at least rework our laser weapons for efficiency. The same wouldnt hurt most factions that use them.
You have a Bastet. That Bastet features six Class 10 slots. That same Bastet features an Eagle's powercore.
Now picture some beefy gunnery in those Class 10 slots.
Example uno:
Six Archangels.
1400 hull damage per shot. With one. Multiply by six? 8400 hull damage sent out everytime you pull the trigger. Multiply by two? 16800 hull damage. Per second. With guns. Actual guns. Not a Mine. Not a Torpedo. Not a Missile either. And sure as hell no MiniRazor.
In other words, the possibility to shred a lighter, and armorless, bomber's hull in a second. With guns. That fire twice a second. Shots moving 600 metres per second. Doing the same damage against every shieldtype as a bonus.
You're aware about what kind of power that is, aye? And you're also aware that there's got to be some drawbacks for the possiblity to wield such power, aye? Well, the drawbacks are the rather small powercore and rather big size of the ship. Fair deal for the ability to have that punch.
But there's something fancier even, example dos:
Six Nomad Energy Blasters in those Class 10 slots.
Firing all six translates into 3510 hull damage if all connect. So a second of fire, aka four shots, possibly equals 14040 hull damage. Pluuus, oh hey, actually very very very low powerdrain for that incredible damage which iiis, in theory, an Order exclusive thing even.
It's a ship which can deliver a raw and brutal amount of gun-based firepower in short bursts.
It even has the agility to utilize said firepower in the best way possible, aka it's agile enough to bring itself into a nice position for shooting at and hitting its target. (Read: Right behind it as it is drifting and not dodging, ideally.) Don' you think that's dandy enough as it is? Be merry that you've got two different Very Heavy Fighters atleast, aye?
And before some doltnugget gets the idea to say "OMG ONLY 2 NOMguNZ ALLOWED NUB!11one"...
GTFO, your own fault if you don't use the tools you've got at your disposal and limit them yourself.
It's not the bestest ship ever, but it fills a role and gets the job done.
Be merry, you got something unique and another option if this one fails anyway.
<div align="right]Bloody ship that's agile enough and handles good enough to stay at people's rear end's and can mount six Squidguns or Arches or Excals for h4xploitability and people ain' happy 'cause it runs out of power. Fly a Kingfisher with six Widows, I'd like to see the Q_Q wave.
Can't use six Widows, it only has four Nines, and two Eights.
Mine has four Widows and two Suntigers.
Also, *cough* Bastets with Ahrimans *cough*
