only time i use a char name is when im adressing the system or people that dont know the ship
ie patterson: Captian,Patterson,James i run this rig liberty liberty special forces
<few lines later all use patterson but its not typed>
Mathers(i actually have a charcter on my ship named mathers hes the ships xo>:jimmy had to meet with the division commander so you can direct any queerys to myself and i as ship's XO wil ldo my best to do whatever is asked or directed to us
<few lines later all useing mathers>
<few more lines adressing unknown craft in zone 21-inwhich case COMMS: is used> (denoteing the comms officer sometimes i give a name)
<few lines later name Jones is used(ships weapoons/CIC officer>
so sometimes a /setmsg is slower else some people would have like 5-6 set messages for there cap alone thats 5 or 6 they have to re configure for there say pirate bomber or whatever
I'm also one of those people that uses ship names - not character names.
BHG|Core-Athena - Max DeVirgo, Guildmaster, is in charge, with 3 or 4 others that speak as needed.
BHG|Core-Cerbeus - Harold Mudd, Captain - William Jones, Engineer - Michael Fenton, Weapons...
BHG|Core-Pallas.Athene - Abigail Hearns, Captain
BHG|Core-Grampus - Douglas Bader, Commanding (seriously - I had someone call me Gramps - the Grampus is a type of Killer whale - and the ship is an Orca)
Other than my Freelancer character - who should go by his name - and my fighters, which are single seat - I'm always typing in the name of who is speaking. Having a command to automatically put the persons name up would be great.

Great command. Practical and good for RP purposes.
Just one issue: I know that some people use multiple characters in thier chat and having a default would result in confussion. For example. I use two names on my Mastadon, Kent, and Evans. Heres a snippet of example text using these names:
Kent: Mr Evans, open a com channel with Planet Manhatten and request docking permission
Evans: Roger that...captain...
But with a default it would look like this:
Kent: Mr Evans, open a com channel with Planet Manhatten and request docking permission Kent: Evens: Roger that....captain...
See..its like, mucked up. Switching /deafult on and off all the time would be annoying unless...you had a quick command for default chat, like /dc <your random RP>
/dc meaning 'default chat'
